Jimmie Johnson Wins the O'Reilly Auto Parts 500 at Texas Motor Speedway
- 11 abr 2017
“Just a great race car, and it was nice to really execute all day long” Johnson said. “I think we've just been trying too hard. You know, we won the championship, obviously, last year, and feel like we have good cars and want to come out and be aggressive. To dial in right at 100 percent is just tough to do”. Johnson led twice for 18 laps during the 334 lap race. Johnson received 49 points and 5 playoff points. Johnson is currently in 11th place in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Standings with 190 points. Kyle Larson came in second place for the fourth time this season. Larson started in the 32nd position after his car didn't pass initial inspections. Larson was in front but was sent back on a caution on Lap 33, and could not pass Joey Logano until late in the race to snatch second place.
This was Larson’s career best finish at Texas Motor Speedway. Joey Logano finished in third place and led three times for 38 laps. Logano was poised to finish in second place, but was passed during the last 30 laps. Ryan Blaney swept both stages of the O’Reilly Auto Parts 500, and led a race high 4 times for 148 laps. Blaney finished in 12th place and received 45 points and two playoff points. Blaney was in the lead going into lap 300, but a pit stop error caused him to lose ground on the standings.
The next race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be at Bristol Motor Speedway for the Food City 500. | |||
