Kyle Busch Gets First Win at Charlotte Motor Speedway at Monster Energy All Star Race

Kyle Busch celebrating his win at Charlotte Motor Speedway after the Monster Energy All Star Race

Kyle Busch won the Monster Energy All Star Race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, his first ever win at the track. He did so in impressive fashion, having the lead at the final restart with 10 laps left. The stakes were high for all the racers, $1,000,000, in the non points race of the season. Busch, who passed Brad Keselowski and Jimmie Johnson entering the final restart, finally got the win at Charlotte.

“Yeah, it means a lot, first of all to finally win at Charlotte for one, then to win the All-Star Race,” Busch said. “It's an exciting race. This race was kind of born off of exciting events that were in the race, bold moves, things like that. We did one of those tonight to win the race”.

The race, which did not count towards the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Standings, was still very critical for all the drivers. Busch of course, the winner of the race and the $1 million, and Chase Elliott who was voted into the race by the fans. Busch led once for ten laps.

Kyle Larson finished in second place, the winner of the first stage of the race, passed Johnson on the final lap. Larson would have been leading the race on the final restart, but a maintenance issue caused him to drop three spots.

“Yeah, that sucks,” Larson said. “But we had a dominant car all race. I thought initially our pit crew struggled that last stop. Our jack post on the right side broke off at some point throughout the race. So the jackman had to make a couple more pumps to get the car up. It slowed the stop down enough that we got beat off pit road by three cars. That was kind of the difference in the race for us.”

Jimmie Johnson finished in third place, after being passed by both Busch and Larson. Johnson pushed his car too hard, which caused Busch to be able to pass him.

“Competitive night for us,” Johnson said. “When the race first started, seemed like there was a little less grip. As the sun continued to go down, the track picked up some grip. We never really ran long enough to try the high lane and make up any time on it.”

The Standings in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series remain the same, with Kyle Larson leading with 475 points and 7 playoff points. Martin Truex Jr. is in second place with 431 points and 15 playoff points. Brad Keselowski is in third with 408 points and 12 playoff points.

The next race in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race will be the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The K&N YA-0116 Air Filter Provides Airflow and Protection for the Yamaha YXZ1000R

K&N YA-0116 for the Yamaha YXZ1000R top view

The YA-0116's filter element is designed for the rigors of the dirt world

Good things come in threes. The Yamaha YXZ1000R’s sport-tuned three-cylinder engine is redefining what it takes to be on the cutting edge of UTV motor design. The 998cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline triple produces about 112 HP. One of the great things about this engine is that it responds very well to performance modifications.

Well, good things come in threes with K&N, too. The K&N YA-0116 direct replacement air filter embodies the big three in the filtration world – performance, protection, and convenience.

Let’s start with performance. The YA-0116 is designed to provide increased horsepower and acceleration. That potential performance increase comes as a direct result of the increased airflow that the pleated, cotton gauze filter element provides.

Clearly, effective engine protection is vital for the YXZ1000R as the Yamaha is an emerging king of the dirt. Putting anything but a filter that is specifically designed for the brutal conditions of the track, trail, or dune is just unwise.

K&N YA-0116 for the Yamaha YXZ1000R filter and box

The K&N YA-0116 comes ready to install right out of the box

Like all of K&N’s off-road specific filters, the multiple layers of oiled, woven cotton gauze media in the YA-0116 offer excellent filtration. K&N's rigorous in-house testing resulted in an estimated overall filtration efficiency of over 98%. Check the “Air Filter Test Data” link on the YA-0116 product page for full filtration test information.

Finally, the YA-0116 is one of the easiest and most convenient modifications you can make on your YXZ1000R. The filter comes pre-oiled and ready to install in the factory air box. It should also be noted that the YA-0116 is designed to require no fuel management modification. It’s the plug and play filter of the performance UTV world.

When it’s time to recharge the filter after a dusty day of driving, that process is made simple with the use of a K&N service kit like the 99-5000. The YA-0116 comes with a one year limited warranty.

The K&N YA-0116 fits the following vehicles:

K&N Offers 2015-2017 Yamaha R1 Filters for Street and Track

Now Yamaha R1 riders can choose their level of filtration and airflow for their bike

Now Yamaha R1 riders can choose their level of filtration and airflow for their bike

The Yamaha R1 has become one of the world’s most iconic performance motorcycles. Now K&N has you covered whether you ride your Yamaha R1 on the mean streets or the closed course. The YA-1015 and YA-1015R fit the identical 2015 – 2017 R1 models, but serve different purposes.

YA-1015

The K&N YA-1015 is a direct replacement air filter that requires no mapping or fuel injection modification. While the YA-1015 is designed for street use, it is still engineered to provide increased horsepower and torque.

The pleated cotton gauze media in the YA-1015 features a large filtration area to provide more airflow to the R1’s thirsty inline four cylinder power-plant. That increase in air can result in crisper throttle response and enhanced overall performance. Of course, performance results will vary by application and specific motorcycle.

On the street, performance is not the only goal. The YA-1015 offers top-notch filtration. The multiple layers of oil-impregnated filter media provide effective and reliable engine protection.

In K&N’s controlled testing, the YA-1015 achieved an estimated overall filtration efficiency of well over 98%. See the test data link on the product page for more details.

The K&N air filters for the late-model R1 fit the stock air box perfectly

The YA-1015 is the real-world air filter choice for the late model R1. It also includes K&N’s famous 10-Year/Million-Mile Limited Warranty.

YA-1015R

If your Yamaha R1 is used as a full race bike or a track-day mount, the YA-1015R is your top performance option. The YA-1015R has just two layers of cotton to provide even lower air restriction than its street-oriented brother.

The YA-1015R is designed for racing and track applications, and is not for street use. Unlike K&N’s direct-replacement filter elements, fuel management modifications will be necessary with this racing filter. However, when combined with mapping changes, the YA-1015R will help you get the most out of your competition R1.

While this is a closed course only filter, it still features K&N’s legendary washability and reusability making it a long-term performance enhancement for the R1. The K&N 99-5000 filter care service kit makes cleaning easy for both K&N R1 filters. The YA-1015R comes with a one year limited warranty.

So now you have a choice in the level of filtration and performance you need from your R1 air filter. Street pilots will want the YA-1015 and track guys can opt for the YA-1015R. Of course, if you have onboard fuel mapping software, you could easily switch between the two if your street bike doubles as your track-day tool.

The YA-1015 and YA-1015R filter and box

Both the YA-1015 and YA-1015R come pre-oiled and ready to install

Wes Miller of the K&N-Sponsored Bomb Squad Seeks Support for RZR Salute to Heroes

The Polaris RZR Salute to Heroes program logo

The Polaris RZR Salute to Heroes program supports the Warfighter Made organization

Team RZR racer Wes Miller is supporting and promoting a cause that directly benefits combat wounded veterans. The Polars RZR Salute to Heroes campaign is an exciting and important fund-raiser for the Warfighter Made (WFM) organization.

The WFM leads several powerful programs for wounded veterans. One mission is the customization of combat wounded veteran’s vehicles, so they can continue doing the things they enjoy in a vehicle that reflects their individual personality and needs.

“Anything that you can think of or imagine that we can adapt, we try,” says WFM Vice President, Juan Dominguez. “Just to give back the freedom to that individual that gave up his freedoms for us.”

The WFM also invites ill, injured, and combat wounded veterans to participate in their recreational therapy trips. The adventures include shooting at ranges, participating in Lucas Oil Off Road events, and experiencing outdoor adventures on Polaris RZRs.

Juan Dominguez of WFM with the grand prize Diesel Brother's Polaris RZR

Juan Dominguez talks about the WFM mission next to the Diesel Brother's Polaris RZR

“So the greatest thing about Warfighter Made is going to (help) a guy who is very closed off to the world,” says Dominguez. “To see a guy go out on a recreational therapy trip and basically come back with a smile - that’s everything to us. Our campaign is to stop all the (veteran) suicides.”

Miller is using his platform as a high-profile racer and powersports video personality to make a push for donations to the WFM. The K&N-sponsored racer makes it clear how vital the mission is.

“It’s important to remember that we are the land of the free because of the brave, and Warfighter Made does a tremendous job of giving back to these courageous men and women," Miller says. "The DWT Bomb Squad RZR Team has joined Polaris RZR in their effort to raise funds for the veteran's support group.”

Miller is asking the powersports community to “step up like our veterans did and put your money where it counts.”

Wes Miller is encouraging the power sports community to support the Salute to Heroes

While the satisfaction of supporting the recovery of our valiant veterans is the primary reward, Polaris is making the effort even more exciting. Polaris and its partners are offering up the chance to win a variety of prizes, including a Diesel Brother's Polaris RZR Turbo.

For the grand prize project, the Diesel Brother’s are taking their inspiration from Polaris defense military vehicles. The build team is promising a UTV that “is going to be one of the coolest machines in the industry.”

To find out more about the vital mission of Warfighter Made, visit the organization’s website. You will certainly be inspired to donate to the cause through the RZR Salute to Heroes program. You will be helping those who sacrificed so very much for our freedom.
