Scandinavian Grand Prix in Malilla Winning Arena for Australian Ace
- Aug 12, 2008
The record books show double World Speedway Grand Prix Champion Jason Crump has finished on the podium at the last four Scandinavian Grand Prix. The record books also show current points leader Nicki Pederson has failed to make the final on all four occasions.
“If statistics are anything to hold on to, then Jason is in the chase for the World Championship,” said Roy Stone, Crump’s Media Relations Manager. “Jason is currently third overall in points standings, with Nicki Pederson of Denmark at first and Leigh Adams of Australia in second place.”

“My chances of winning the World Championship are very much alive,” said Crump. “I will be racing with my K&N air filters as I always do and a win in Sweden will keep me in the running.”
Crump is just one Grand Prix win away from equaling the number of Grand Prix wins set by six-time World Speedway Champion Tony Rickardsson. “You don’t win World Championships on past performances,” said 17-time Grand Prix winner Crump. “There have been five different winners out of six Grand Prix this year and the field is very strong. I know what I need to do to win and I am feeling very confident now.”
Crump has had solid races over the last two months. “I will be going to Malilla in Sweden to win and capture as many points as I can,” he said. “I know I have a tough job ahead of me for the rest of the season. I will be fighting until the end.”
