Mercedes Benz E, C, SLK and GLC with K&N Replacement Air Filters are First in Class
- Apr 8, 2016
When drivers think Mercedes-Benz, most can probably agree the marque is synonymous with elegance, refinement and class – with a certain attitude. The E-Class and C-Class models, and certainly the SLK roadster and crossover GLC are ones that portray just the right amount of attitude. Since 1993, the E-Class has been aimed at the executive mid-size luxury market and the C-Class was its compact sibling positioned for younger up-and-comers. The cars have been described as "benchmarks for ride quality, craftsmanship and clever innovation." No argument there either. The E-Class includes coupe, sedan, station wagon and special-purpose applications (police or ambulance modifications) and is often used as a taxi in Asia. The C-Class, although described as Mercedes' entry-level car, is on par with the E, offered in an array of trims and power options, including an AMG development package.
The E-Class got a facelift in 2013 and comprehensive redesign in 2016. The C-Class got a facelift for 2012 and in 2014, the current-generation car was introduced, showcasing Mercedes' 200-lb. lighter modular rear architecture (MRA) aluminum platform. In 2015 a hybrid was added to the C-Class lineup and their popularity has not waned. For 2016 the SLK got a new 241-horsepower, turbocharged 2.0L, four-cylinder engine to replace the SLK250 and its 201-hp 1.8L. The GLC was completely redesigned, upsized a bit and re-powered with the same turbocharged four-cylinder found in the C300. A four-cylinder diesel engine is expected later in the year, plus a 320-horsepower hybrid and an AMG performance version.
Maintaining peak performance among these current-era examples of M-B excellence is a priority, and a matter of pride for all who own and drive them on country roads, the occasional club track day, and the daily commute. All of their engines are direct injected and some are turbocharged, so keeping the induction system free and clear is of paramount importance. At the heart of an induction system is the engine air filter, and drivers can assuredly agree that replacing it annually is synonymous with good engine health. Now this crucial maintenance step can be accomplished with the K&N 33-3034 Replacement Air Filter. But instead of replacing the filter each year, users can just wash and re-use the K&N air filter. It can even go up to 50,000 miles before needing to be cleaned (under normal highway driving conditions). The 33-3034 Replacement Air Filter is made with multiple layers of oiled cotton filter media that not only provide excellent filtration to ensure long engine life, it is emissions-legal in all 50 U.S. states and will not void new-vehicle manufacturer warranties. The filter's drop-in design means adding performance is simple, and no special tools or skills are required. An instruction sheet accompanies the filter with installation details. When it is time to service the 33-3034 filter, just pick up a K&N Recharger Kit 99-5050. It comes with a spray bottle of K&N Power Kleen air filter cleaner and a squeeze bottle of K&N Air Filter Oil. K&N Power Kleen works to dissolve the dirt build up and old filter oil, then it can be washed away with water. After the air filter fully dries, re-oil it with K&N Air Filter Oil, then reinstall it. Giving your S, C, SLK and GLC class Mercedes a fresh or refreshed K&N air filter on a regular schedule will help them maintain that level of excellence the motoring world has come to expect. And K&N's 10-Year/Million-Mile Limited Warranty will likely make it the last air filter the car will ever need. The K&N 33-3034 Replaces these parts: These Mercedes-Benz models can be fitted with a K&N 33-3034 Replacement Air Filter: You can view all the air filters that K&N makes for the Mercedes Benz at the Replacement Air Filters for Mercedes-Benz Models page and all the air intakes that K&N makes for the Mercedes Benz at the Air Intakes for the Air Intakes for Mercedes-Benz Models page.
