- Oct 3, 2008
Kings Speedway in Hanford, California hosted the two-night Tachi Open Wheel Invitational. Jonathan Allard owned the 360 Winged Sprint Car portion of the race. It was Allard’s first race since picking up a third place finish in the 55th annual Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway near Chico, California.

Allard went into the annual Cotton Classic as defending champion of the event. A 22 car field was on hand for the 410 sprint portion of the night. Allard clocked the fastest lap in qualifying to give the K&N Filters No. 0 the fast time.
In the heat, Allard didn’t get the start he wanted and crossed the line in fifth, which forced him to start way back in 14th for the 25 lap main. The track surface was choppy and rough during the night, but Allard was able to move forward quickly and carve his way through the field.
By lap ten, Allard had already made it up to sixth and spent the last stages of the race charging forward. Allard passed Sammy Swindell, Bud Kaeding and Brent Kaeding to move into second place across the finish line.
“It was a good run for us and we’re happy with second after starting in the seventh row,” said Allard. “We use K&N oil and air filters along with K&N’s carbon fiber air box. K&N makes the best products, the oil and air filters are easy to use and maintain. K&N gives us an edge in sprint car racing and is dependable every time.”
The current King of California is hoping for his first career Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals title at Silver Dollar Speedway.
