Vaughn Gittin Jr. began his professional drifting career ten years ago. The self-taught American drifter came from humble beginnings driving his personal Nissan S13 in Formula Drift. The switch to a Ford Mustang in 2005 has brought the Maryland native much notoriety and sponsors such as Ford Racing, Monster Energy drinks, Nitto Tires and K&N air filters.
The 2010 Formula Drift champion was able to lock in a solid third place finish in the 2014 championship series following Formula Drift Round 7 “Final Fight” at Irwindale Speedway in California. Irwindale Speedway is often called the “House of Drift” as this venue is considered the birthplace of American drifting. The 2014 FD Championship was decided during round 7 at Irwindale as Chris Forsberg and Fredric Aasbo were locked in a tight battle for the lead. Forsberg came out on top, with Aasbo finishing the season in second overall.
Vaughn Gittin Jr, in the Monster Energy driving suit, sits next to fellow American drifter, 2009 Formula Drift Champion, and newly crowned 2014 Formula Drift champion, Chris Forsberg
Vaughn Gittin Jr has ten years of profession drifting competition under his belt and experiences super-star treatment among domestic Formula Drift fans as well as international drift fans
Of the 2014 FD season, Gittin said “Another Formula Drift season in the books and what a wild one it has been. We finished 3rd overall in the Championship with two event wins this year. While my team and I are never satisfied and always want more, I am pumped on our hard fought final result and look forward to pushing harder than ever next season.” Gittin went on to congratulate fellow American Chris Forsberg on his second Formula Drift Championship.
