Add Estimated 20.7 Horsepower to 2005 to 2008 BMW M5 with K&N Performance Air Intake System
- Aug 30, 2007
Push the start button on the BMW M5 V10 engine and the response gives new
meaning to performance sedan. The MDrive can transform the car from a
comfortable and quick luxury sedan to a very fast road warrior with a very
unique power delivery. When used properly it increases the M's power output from
400 to 500 horsepower, swaps the throttle response and shift speed.
For even more horsepower K&N Engineering has designed a High-Flow Air Intake System (69-2003TFK) in flat black for the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 BMW M5 5.0 liter V10 engine. This is the first time K&N has developed a kit for the M5.
K&N dynamometer test show an estimated 20.7 horsepower gain at 5700 rpm. The M5 is a dual throttle body car, so the K&N Air Intake System is also dual to match the stock system. There are two short ram intake systems that include two flat black aluminum tubes, two K&N High-Flow Air Filters (RU-5147) and two powder coated steel heat shields.
In addition to power gains, K&N Air Intake Systems are also designed to increase filtering capacity and improve throttle response. The heat shields are engineered to isolate the oversized K&N High-Flow Air Filters from engine bay heat. This intake also makes use of the M5's factory fresh air ducts which provide cooler outside air to the individual K&N Air Filters translating into more power.
The 69-2003TFK comes with two air intake units placed in opposite corners near the fender wells behind the headlights of the M5. The Mass Air Sensor adaptors are precision CNC machined, 6061 billet aluminum for accurate Mass Air Flow sensor readings.
It takes about 90 minutes to install this K&N Air Intake. It does not remove the stock intake plenums which keep a clean look under the hood. This K&N Air Intake System, like all other K&N Air Intake Systems is backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
