2011-2014 Polaris RZR XP 900 Side by Side Power with a K&N FIPK Air Intake
- Feb 8, 2016
There's absolutely nothing practical about the 2011-2014 Polaris RZR XP 900 / Polaris Ranger RZR XP 900. It only seats 2 people, and there's barely enough room to carry a cooler. If you want a Side by Side that can haul lots of gear, or pull a trailer around the family farm, you're going to want something else. But if you and a buddy want to go on a high-speed outdoor adventure, this Polaris Side-by-Side is awesome! The 2011-2014 Polaris RZR XP 900 turns all-four wheels with a 875cc fuel injected DOHC twin that makes 88-hp. For most people, that's plenty of go-power for a pint-sized dune buggy. But if you really want to break the needle off the Fun-o-Meter, then you're going to need the 50-state legal K&N 57-1129 FIPK Performance Air Intake. This rugged K&N performance intake kit is designed to increase horsepower and torque by reducing airflow restriction. To do this, a pair of short, large-diameter, mandrel-bent aluminum intake tubes replace the narrow factory inlet tubes. These straight tubes don't force the air to travel through tight bends like the stock intake did. This helps more air get to the throttle body quicker. Plus, these K&N intake tubes are completely smooth on the inside, which reduces turbulence and creates an unobstructed airflow path.
With the direct, high-volume air delivery tubes in place, it's time to feed the beast. This is done by swapping the factory air box for a rugged aluminum heat shield/air filter box, that houses 2 conical low-restriction K&N performance air filters. These famous oiled cotton air filters are made from 6 layers of a special tight weave cotton gauze material that gets treated with a proprietary oil blend. The oil on a K&N filter causes the cotton fibers to become sticky, which allows them to attract and hold dirt particles that are as small as the diameter of a human hair. K&N air filters can also be washed and reused for years to come. The pleated design, and dual air filters, will offer 2011-2014 Polaris RZR XP 900 Side by Side owners long service intervals between cleanings. But if you regularly drive in extremely dirty/dusty environments, K&N recommends that you inspect them frequently. After extensive R&D, K&N installed a K&N 57-Series FIPK Performance Air Intake System on a 2012 Polaris RZR XP 900 and strapped it to the in-house powersports dyno. These power tests revealed an estimated horsepower increase of 2.14-hp, along with an additional 1.17 ft-lb of torque. Compared to a car, 2 extra horsepower doesn't sound like much. But on a 1,200 lb 4x4 ATV only making 88 horsepower from the factory, that's a significant bolt on upgrade. Your individual results may vary due to the mileage, condition of your RZR, and the elevation/environment that you drive it in. But you will see a guaranteed performance increase with this system. The K&N 57-1129 FIPK Performance Air Intake is legal in all 50 states, and it's backed by a 10-Year/million mile limited warranty. Installation should only take around 90 minutes, and all you need are 3 sockets, an extension, a 10 mm wrench, and a couple of screwdrivers. But this air intake kit isn't the only performance part that K&N makes for Polaris side by sides, or other vehicles.
