Beginning in 2011 Ford introduced a 3.5-liter turbocharged engine option for the best-selling Ford F150 pickup. Ford has named its family of turbocharged, direct injection gasoline engines the EcoBoost. Ford EcoBoost engines are designed to deliver horsepower and torque numbers on par with larger naturally aspirated engines while promising better fuel economy and reduced greenhouse gasses. With a claimed 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque the 2011 Ford F150 EcoBoost became Ford’s flagship model despite the comeback of the legendary Ford 5.0 V8 that same year. K&N offers a 50-state street legal air intake system for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost pickup trucks designed to provide a guaranteed increase in horsepower and torque. K&N air intake 57-2583, includes a roto-molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) air intake tube, coupled to a large K&N reusable high-flow air filter, and an application specific air filter heat shield to deflect engine heat away from the air inlet. Very similar results were witnessed when K&N 50-state legal air intake 57-2583 was installed and dyno tested on a 2013 Ford F150 EcoBoost. This time K&N intake designers witnessed an estimated increase of 11.86 HP and 14.53 lb-ft more torque.
