Anthony Leonard's fascination with cars started as a child in 1950's Los Angeles. "The guys in my neighborhood drove 32's with flatheads, James Dean style Mercurys, Tri-fives and custom Chevy Fleetlines. Caroll Shelby's Factory on La Brea and Highland was around the corner from my house," says Leonard. Following college and a stint in the Army, Leonard became a real estate broker and practiced as a mortgage banker for 34 years. "Through those years I continued to buy and read car magazines, but time constraints always prevented me from building a car."

Then, in 2003 Leonard purchased a 1929 Ford Tudor Sedan, dubbed "The Cat's Meow" and drove it until the original frame cracked. To repair the frame required the removal of the body. With the help of his talented friend Chuck Williams, Leonard installed a TCI Chassis. The underside of the car was fitted with a custom belly pan, painted the same color as the car. Dr. Brush, a well known east coast artist, painted and pinstriped the body, engine compartment and undercarriage with PPG Fireball Red. "When you walk around the car and look at the paint, the color changes from a Fireball Red to a glowing orange," says Leonard.

"We installed a fully chromed 347 Ford Roller Motor with Roush Heads, C-4 transmission and a chrome Ford 9' rear end," says Leonard. To accommodate a high performance Ford engine, a custom firewall was designed and installed. The design of the new firewall included the use of the original firewall-upper section, which is where the original completion date of 9-18-29 was stamped by the Ford Motor Company.

The interior of the Cat's Meow is completely insulated and includes vintage air conditioning, reclining seats, vintage white faced VDO Gages, Genie shifter, power windows, power brakes and a chrome tilt steering column with a mahogany Ford steering wheel.

Anthony Leonard is a loyal K&N customer. "I use K&N filters on all of my vehicles including my 2002 Jeep Wrangler that I take off road," says Leonard. "K&N Filters are economical and help my high performance engines breathe better. My personal car is an un-molested, black lacquer 1965 Mustang "K" code with 89,000 miles, equipped with K&N, of course."
