K&N Releases New 3.5 Inch Diameter Flange Universal Chrome Top Air Filter

The new RC-5165 is two inches bigger at the top and more than two inches bigger at the bottom than any other cone shaped air filter K&N makes with a 3.5 inch diameter flange. The base outside diameter is 8 inches (203 mm), the top diameter is 7 inches (178 mm), and the height is 12.5 inches (318 mm). The flange length is 1.5 inches long which should be long enough to clamp around most 3.5 inch diameter air intakes.

There is also a threaded stud on the top of this K&N Air Filter for secure mounting if needed. K&N Universal Air Filters are ideal for extended use in dirty and dusty conditions. Washable and reusable, the RC-5165, like all other K&N Air Filters is a work horse. It is designed to provide high air flow and excellent engine protection.

There is a great deal of engineering behind every K&N Filter. More than 35 years of research and development has made K&N the leader in air filtration technology.

During the first heat race Allard fell to fourth on the start. At lap four he was able to take over third place and continued the charge to finish the heat in 2nd place.

In the 25 lap feature, Allard hit a slick spot on turn three and almost spun out but managed to stay in the race. Officials cut the race to 20 laps because of a mandated noise curfew. During the last part Allard lost a spot on lap 16 and ended up in 5th place.

“Racing may have its ups and downs but the one thing that stays on top is the performance of our K&N Filters,” said Allard. “It was a tough night, but our team was able to work through the adversity.”

Allard and Williams Motorsports will be running at the Silver Dollar Speedway this Friday and at Tulare Speedway on Saturday.

Cake took pole position in the first round of the heat, but his throttle cable snapped as the light turned green. Cake was stranded on the start line. During the second heat the car showed its true potential as Cake began setting competitive lap times.

In the third heat, the driver from Dover made a mistake by chasing front runner Willy Salzgeber. He slipped back and Cake ended up in 10th place overall.

"The weekend was more of a glorified test session," said Cake. "We have lots of new components on the car and I'm still testing the limits of the Corsa. I'm really happy with the changes and can't wait for the next race."

The next event for Cake will be the second round of the European Rallycross Championship in France on May 12th and 13th. Belgian Driver Tom Greenen will be driving the Team Open Series Vauxhall Corsa in Round 2 of the LINGsCARS.com Rallycross Open Championship at Blyton Circuit in Cake's absence.

Trophy Truck Racer Ready for Best in the Desert Series Off-Road Race

“The logistics of the Terrible’s Town 250 are cake compared to the Baja 1000,” said Trophy Truck Racer Damen Jefferies. “But, the pace is intense. Everyone is pushing the limit in this race.”

The race is presented by the Terrible Herbst Casino Corporation and starts in Pahrump, which is about 65 miles from the Las Vegas strip. It is also one of the richest off road races in the United States with a $20,000 purse for the winner.

Damen Jefferies of Oak Hills, California is ready to take on his formidable competitors through the rough and rocky terrain. The K&N Engineering sponsored racer has dominated every class he has driven in. “We built a brand new vehicle for 2007,” said Jefferies. “It’s light as far as trophy trucks go, but it has good power and it accelerates fast.”

Jefferies new K&N sponsored trophy truck was first tested in the SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge. He took 11th place out of 36 entries. “Our next race was the Tecate SCORE Baja 250,” he said. “After starting in the 26th position, we were up to 3rd place by race mile 80. That’s when our transmission expired. It’s still early in the game and we’re very optimistic about the rest of the season. We’re racing at Terrible’s Town to get extensive testing on the truck in preparation for the Baja 500.”

Jefferies is ready to get the job done at Pahrump. The K&N trophy truck utilizes a K&N designed air induction system as well as a K&N Performance Oil Filter which provides it with the power and protection it requires. “The bottom line is K&N has better filtering than anybody,” he said. “We can depend on K&N in the toughest and most severe desert conditions.”

By supporting racers like Damen, K&N is able to test and develop the finest products under the most extreme racing environments,” said Mike Rossi, K&N Research and Development Specialist. “Consistent air flow, low maintenance, durability and superior filtration are critical under these conditions. The development that takes place as a result of racing with teams like this improves K&N’s consumer product lines.”

Jefferies will race at Pahrump on April 28.
