K&N Engineering has designed a 77-Series High-Flow Performance Kit (77-9029KP)
for the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 Toyota 4Runner 4.7L V8.
Performance Air Intake for 2005 to 2008 Toyota 4Runner
Designed to improve airflow to the engine, testing on K&N's
dynamometer showed a
7.38 horsepower gain @ 5270 RPM. "The mandrel-bent, free flowing, one-piece
polished aluminum tube will mount to the throttle body," said K&N Peformance Kit
Technical Development Supervisor Kirk Swanson. "The K&N Kit (77-9029KP)
goes over to the fender well and mounts to the filter on the other end."
A steel heatshield, finished in black powdercoat isolates the filter from
ambient underhood heat to supply the engine with cooler denser air. The 77
Series polished intake tube (77-9029KP)
is coupled to the OE components with reinforced silicone hose to absorb engine
vibrations. Stainless-steel hose clamps secure parts to one another and black
powdercoated steel brackets add additional support.
K&N's High Flow Replacement filter (RF-1048)
provides optimal air flow and is backed by K&N's Famous Million Mile Warranty.

Installation
is simple and can be done without drilling or cutting. Each K&N 77- Series Kit comes complete with all necessary hardware, including die-cast aluminum sensor
adapters.
At Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, Pennsylvania Phil Burkart won at the Toyo
Tires Nationals. Burkart driver defeated Ron Capps in round one, defeated Gary
Scelzi in round two, defeated John Force in the semi-final and defeated Robert
Hight in the final.
Funny Car driver Burkart came into Sunday from the 12th spot and was matched
with Ron Capps in round one. Capps, leading the POWERade points at the time was
ready, but so was Burkart.

“It’s been a while since I came to the track on Sunday with that special
feeling, like something extraordinary was about to happen,” said Burkart. “We
made two great laps in qualifying, and we knew there was more in the tank there.
I really thought we had a chance to win a round or two, despite the fact that we
had to race the points leader in the first round. I was zoned, and my whole team
had an all business look about them.” Burkart tore away from the starting line
with nearly a 2-hundredths advantage at the tree and was never behind in this
race. He crossed the stripe with a strong 4.783 and Capps day was over.
In round two, Gary Scelzi lost traction and was left far behind. Burkart’s 4.816
was good enough to move him on to the semi-final.
During the semi, John Force was Burkart’s opponent. The two left almost
together, Burkart’s edge at the tree was only one thousandth of a second. Force
jumped out quickly to a lead and seemed to be pulling away. At half track, Force
had engine trouble and Burkart’s Havoline/CSK Chevy took the lead. Burkart was
on his way to the final round.

“They just kept throwing monsters at us, but we kept finding a way to take
them out,” Burkart said. “Capps, Scelzi, Force, what more can you handle? We got
by all of them, but we had Robert Hight in the final round. Part of you, a very
small part, is happy just to be in the final, but most of your heart and your
brain want to win.”
Burkart and Hight left the line together, and tire smoke instantly followed. “I
hit the throttle, and almost right away it went up in smoke, but I saw Robert
having the same problem,” said Burkart. “It was on, and I just kept feathering
it. I hit it again and again, but all it would do was spin, so I grabbed he
brake and kept laying my foot on the throttle as gently as I could. It finally
started making headway.”
Burkart and his crew use K&N Engineering’s Premium Performance Gold Oil Filters.
“The thick canister walls on the K&N Filters have extra strength and
durability,” he said. “It reduces the risk of damage from debris on the race
track. We wouldn’t dream of entering a race without K&N Filters.”
Burkart said a flood of emotions came over him at the finish line. “My dad was
here, and he’s never see me win a race before, so that’s about as cool as it
gets,” said Burkart. “Reading is the closest track to my home, so this is like
winning in my own back yard. This is as good as it gets.”

The Opel Astra was named "The Most Beautiful Car in the World," during the
Design in Motion 2000 show at Milan. The reason was style, performance and
safety at affordable prices according to an international committee made up of
journalists, artists and designers.
Air Intake for 2000 to 2005 Opel Astra G
K&N Engineering has released a new 69-Series Typhoon Air Intake (69-4900TB)
for the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Opel Astra G 1.8L L4.
K&N dynamometer tests show a 6 horsepower gain for this powder coated blue
intake. "It is a straight forward design," said K&N Air Filter Product Manager
Joost Adriaans. "We spent a lot of time making satisfying horsepower gains, by
testing the air flow paths. A 6 horsepower gain is good considering this 1.8L
engine only cranks out 103 horsepower at the wheels." Blue is a very popular
color for this model in Europe, said Adriaans.
With all K&N 69-Series Typhoon Air Intakes there is a thorough development
procedure which requires the use of multiple test vehicles. "The Opel Astra is
one of the best selling cars in Europe," Adriaans said. "Finding donor vehicles
was not a problem."
The design of this vehicle played a major role in the development of this
69-Series Kit. "There was not a whole lot of room in the engine bay," said
Adriaans. "We designed this K&N Kit (69-4900TB)
so the K&N Replacement Filter (RC-9350)
is placed on top of the engine, where the original air box was. The Opel Astra
also has a better throttle response with the K&N Typhoon Air Intake."
The 4th generation Toyota 4Runner is a very sophisticated piece of engineering.
In 2003, its look went athletic and larger. There is more front and rear
legroom, more headroom and 2 inches more shoulder and hip room. It can easily
fit five passengers.
AirCharger Air Intake for 2003 and 2004 Toyota 4Runner
K&N Engineering, Inc. has made a 63 Series AirCharger Intake Kit (63-9022)
for the 2003 and 2004 Toyota 4Runner 4.7L V8. The K&N Typhoon Kit was specially designed
to fit in the engine of the Toyota. ""We hand build these tubes," said K&N
Performance Kit Technical Development Supervisor Kirk Swanson. "We shape it to
hand form it for our dyno to get the best power." The heat shield on
63-9022 fits easily in
the inner fender well.
K&N dyno test have shown a horsepower gain of 13.53 at 5012 RPM with the
63-9022
Intake Kit. K&N's (63-9022) rotationally molded polyethylene Intake Kit uses a
Round Tapered Universal Chrome Top Air Filter (RC-5100) that can fit into the
engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points. "There is a hole
midway on the tube to accommodate a factory hose," said Swanson.

It takes less than an hour to install this kit and the lifetime K&N Air
Filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on
driving conditions.
William Fletcher won the 4th Annual Northwest National Diesel Drag Championships

September 16th.
William Fletcher's 1995 Dodge Diesel Pick-up
“My 12 valve Cummins 1995 Dodge Diesel pick-up truck is currently the
fastest street legal diesel in the world,” said Fletcher. I use K&N Oil Filter
(HP-4003),
and K&N's FIPK. I had excellent air flow because of the FIPK which allowed my huge diesel turbo to spool freely. This
enabled my engine to perform at its maximum horse power to win the 2006
Nationals.”
Fletcher uses K&N’s 57- Series Fuel Injection Performance Kit
57-1525.
At K&N Engineering,
dynamometer test show a 9.17 horsepower increase @ 2560RPM for the 1995
Dodge Ram 5.9L.
“My best time in 2006 is 9.92 at 139 mph,” said Fletcher. “My record was 10.13
at 137mph in 2005.”
