K&N has designed a 63-Series AirCharger Intake System (57-2571) for the 2008 and 2009 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 with 5.4 liter V8 engine. Dynamometer tests show a horsepower gain of 53.71 @ 5900 RPM with this air intake.

"One of the reasons for such a large power gain is the large K&N Air Filter (RF-1048)," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "The factory air box was restricted in size and restrictive in air flow especially at higher RPMs. We made a larger intake tube that fit nicely under the front stabilizer bar."

"The tube is oval because the throttle body was oval. This also allowed the tube cross section to be larger," said Heck. "The large horsepower gain of this air intake is also due to the radius adaptor design as it smoothly takes the 6 inch flange of the air filter and mates it with the intake tube."

It takes less than 90 minutes to install this K&N AirCharger Air Intake System to virtually eliminate air path restriction and drive a massive amount of air into your engine. K&N Air Intake Systems also come with the famous K&N Million Mile Warranty.

Mazda 2 and Mazda 3 Owners Never Have to Replace an Air Filter Again with K&N

K&N Air Filters are washable and reusable. 33-2924 is 0.875 inches in height (22mm) with an outside length of 12.25 inches (311 mm) and an outside width of 8.875 inches (225 mm).

More than 35 years of research and development has made K&N the leader in filtration. K&N Air Filters are made of 4 to 6 layers of cotton gauze sandwiched between two epoxy-coated aluminum wire screens. The cotton is treated with a specially formulated grade of oil. This causes tackiness throughout the cotton's microscopic strands. The nature of the cotton allows air flow, and when combined with the tackiness of the oil creates a powerful filtering media that ensures engine protection.

K&N makes stock replacement air filters for virtually every motorcycle and automobile on and off the road. K&N's stock air filters for street vehicles are covered by our famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your vehicle will ever need.

The 33-2924 will fit the following vehicles:

2007 World Extreme Rock Crawling Season Underway

Tough competitors tested their rigs and skills during the 2007 World Extreme Rock Crawling Season kick off at the Fiesta Casino near Las Vegas, Nevada. Rock crawling is a new competitive sport designed to test the mental skills of a driver, the brute strength and ingenuity of a spotter and the mechanical abilities of the vehicle. The course is laid out with a series of obstacles and the team with the lowest score wins.

There are penalties for backing up or changing directions, touching a course marker, or using a winch to go forward. Competitors are disqualified for going over a ten minute time limit. WE-Rock’s newest rock crawling course near Las Vegas is not completely developed and limited in size. As a result, there was a lot of up close and very technical rock crawling.

Team Lovell of Colorado Springs, Colorado took to the rocks in anticipation of one more successful season in their FABTECH Ford Ranger. “I must admit that I was a little light on confidence coming into this event,” said team driver Brad Lovell. “We had an intense re-build after a fire and seized engine ended our 2006 season. This time we grinded through the first course and I knew we would be alright.”

The same section of rock can yield so many different course options and lines of attack. Competitors are thwarted by the shift of cones, sometimes by inches in one direction or another. There is also hard romping throttle acton that sends spotters running as rigs fly over stone.

Team Lovell uses K&N Engineering products. “There is a lot of silt and fine dust on these courses,” said Lovell. “K&N Filters keep the debris out of our engines and our sensors do not clog up. There is also a slight taper to give me the clearance and flexibility I need in this kind of competition.”

The most exciting event for Brad Lovell came on the third course of the first day. A near vertical climb caused smoke to billow out of his exhaust, blinding the team. “I had to take a couple stabs at the hill and every time the front would just launch into the air,” he said. The smoke cloud was not helping anything but the engine never missed a beat. It’s all about tires, suspension and the center of gravity. I have to make sure we don’t flip over.”

Time was running out, but Lovell found enough traction and the Ranger bolted to the top. On the second day, Team Lovell went into the final round in second place. Team spotter Roger Lovell stacked every rock he could find for at least five minutes. His actions paid off because the team had a perfect run. “My brother Roger is my eyes outside of the vehicle,” said Brad Lovell. “He directs me by fractions of an inch.”

Despite their best efforts, there was not enough to overcome the 12 point margin between Team Lovell and the first place driver Dean Bulloch. “We are ready to push it to the limit,” said Lowell. “We have a good series started and we’ll catch Dean in the upcoming events.” The Lovell’s next event is WE-Rock #2 in Globe, Arizona March 30th through April 1st.

Podium Finish for Donny Schatz at Thunderbowl Raceway

World of Outlaws Champion Donny Schatz was back in action at the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, California. Schatz ended the two-night program with a third place finish but continues to be the early leader in the WoO championship points battle.

“The weekend went a little different than we hoped,” said Schatz. “But finishing with a strong third place finish helps keep things in perspective. We made a couple of bad laps in qualifying on Friday night that really put us behind right out of the box. By Saturday night the track was much more to our liking. I tried to run all over the place, but we couldn’t get the lead and ended up third.”

The bad laps came in Friday during the opener. Schatz fought an uphill battle, which ended up being one lane throughout the early stages of the night. He finished eighth in the second heat race and 10th in the B-Feature.

Things went better for Schatz and the ParkerStore Team on Saturday night. The Fargo, North Dakota racer qualified 13th and won the first heat race. He finished second in the dash event, which earned him a front row starting spot in the 40 lap feature event.

At the start of the event, Schatz had to take evasive action as polesitter Jason Meyers got crossed up. Tim Kaeding took advantage and raced past both and Schatz was in hot pursuit, but could not make the winning move. He took third for the third time in five events this year.

Schatz returns to action next weekend in Arizona for a single night program at USA Race Park at Tucson, Arizona on Friday and at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday. Last season, Schatz finished second and first at USA Race Park in two events and came home second last fall at Manzanita.

Schatz and the ParkerStore Team will continue to use a lot of the equipment that has proven to be successful during last year’s championship season. Schatz uses K&N Engineering products. “The K&N Airbox works flawlessly,” he said. “K&N builds a superior product and we are able to attain maximum horsepower.”
