Russia's Eastern Siberia is not an easy place for a road trip. In fact, Turtle Expedition Team adventurers Gary and Monika Wescott were told it could not be done because there are no roads. “We found roads no one ever spoke about through aerial maps,” said Wescott. “We drove
up the middle of the Lena River in winter when it was frozen solid.”

The Lena River is the 9th longest river in the world and is frozen for about seven months of the year. “We were on ice for 650 miles and after that we drove on frozen permafrost,” said Wescott. “When temperatures are 96.7 degrees below zero, metal can crystallize and snap. 5-15W Arctic oil can also turn to a heavy gelatin.”
A typical trip can last three years for The Turtle Expedition. They have used K&N air filters for more than 20 years on world expeditions.

Gary Wescott is a journalist and the founder of The Turtle Expedition, Unltd. He and his wife Monika crossed Siberia in The Turtle IV, a Ford F-350 equipped with K&N air and oil filters.
“There are a lot of things to consider when you go on an adventure,” said Wescott. “We carried enough fuel to travel 1000 miles and we pulled a support trailer. We had enough food for months and a supply of tools and spare parts. There were no car dealerships, telephones were sketchy and e-mail took hours if we could connect at all. We knew we could depend on our washable and reusable K&N air filter in Siberia.”
Gary Wescott is 63-years-old and has been travelling since 1969. His photographs and articles have been published throughout the world. “When we go on a trip we have a basic idea of where we’re going and we have lots of supplies,” he said. “We let the trip take us.”
In Siberia, they were self-contained and careful. The Wescott’s had fuel filters and heaters to keep dirt and water out of the injection pump. They also put in diesel additives to keep their fuel liquid.
“We have used K&N for at least 20 years,” said Wescott. “People from South America, Russia and all over Europe were intrigued as they watched us wash our air filter, let it dry and put it back on our expedition vehicles.”
The Turtle Expedition's next big trip will be the Silk Route from Lisbon, Portugal to Shanghai, China. The Wescott’s will drive their new Turtle V. It is an expedition camper based on a 1999 Ford F-550 4X4. It can carry 74 gallons of fuel, 40 gallons of water and the camper is solar powered.

The stage was set at Barker Hanger in Santa Monica, California where a new 2010 Mustang GT was revealed for the first time Hollywood style. The star of the show was brought in by a star in the Drifting world, Vaughn Gittin Jr.

It was an invitation only grand introduction for the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show, televised on SPEED-TV. John and Ashley Force were in the audience, along with Parnelli Jones and Carol Shelby.
World Drifting Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr made huge circles and went sideways in a new 2010 Mustang GT

World Drifting Champion Gittin drifted in the famous hanger in front of other famous classic Mustangs. They were grouped in rafters like Matchbox cars in a shadow box. “It was a bit nerve wracking for me,” said Gittin. “It must have been more nerve wracking for the owners of the other Mustangs.”
The 2010 Mustang GT will be Gittin’s new competition vehicle. It is all carbon fiber and weighs 2600 pounds. It is equipped with an aluminum Ford Racing motor and supercharger.
“There is also a K&N conical air filter and a K&N oil filter,” said Gittin. “I have used K&N Engineering products since I was 16-years-old. My professional relationship with K&N began about 5-years-ago. I was moving up the ranks in drifting and walked over to the K&N booth, asked for a sponsorship and the rest is history. K&N keeps the dirt and debris out of my engines.”
Gittin said it was very hard to keep the 2010 Mustang GT under wraps before the show. “We took it to the dyno without body panels,” he said. “It has outstanding power.”
Gittin’s new Mustang is back in North Carolina getting some finishing touches. “It had a special paint job for the reveal,” he said. “But, the car will be painted blue and teal for racing. I am very excited and privileged to have the first 2010 race car.”

K&N has released a performance air intake system (63-1560) for the 2008 and 2009 Dodge Caliber SRT-4 with 2.4 liter turbo engine.

K&N dynamometer tests show an estimated 10.85 horsepower gain at 5500 RPM. K&N engineers were able to get this additional power because the original factory airbox and original air filter were restrictive. K&N cold air intake systems are designed to reduce intake restriction and at the same time, smooth and straighten airflow while providing excellent filtration. This results in a power gain along with outstanding engine protection.
The
63-1560 uses a washable and reusable high-flow K&N air filter (RU-3570) and a powder coated heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock airbox. The heat shield isolates the K&N air filter from engine heat. There is a factory fresh air intake duct that delivers outside air to the K&N air filter housed within the heat shield.
The K&N intake tube attaches directly to the turbo inlet providing smooth air flow to the engine. The
63-1560 includes all necessary hardware, uses factory mount points and has provisions for factory vent hoses.
The washable and reusable K&N air filter can perform for up to 100,000 miles before service is required. It takes about 90 minutes to install and is covered by K&N’s Million Mile Limited Warranty.
