Even though the Acton, California pre-teen had the fastest lap time of the weekend, race organizers called a full field inversion by lap times and Briley had to start last during the main event.

Briley showed the rest of the pack why he is points leader. He moved up from 12th position to 4th position just like that. A yellow flag came out and at the restart Briley moved from 4th to 2nd place.

Briley took the lead in lap five and never looked back. He currently has the number one position in points. “I was down at the bottom of the stands jumping and cheering,” said Natasha Briley, Trenton’s mother. “At the end of the race an older gentleman congratulated us. He said we have a talented son who is a very great driver. I was stunned because the praise came from Walker Evans a thirty year off road racing veteran and champion known as The Legend.”

Briley’s Trophy Kart has a LTR 450 Suzuki quad racer motor. “We use K&N air filters and oil filters,” said Trenton’s father Rob Briley. We’ve used K&N for as long as I can remember on our street cars and trucks. K&N is a well known product in our family.”

Add 6.14 HP to Mitsubishi Raider and Dodge Dakota with Polished K&N Air Intake System

The Mitsubishi Raider has aggressive styling and is the brand’s only pickup truck. However, under the Raider’s eye-catching fenders is essentially a midsize Dodge Dakota pickup. Both have good towing capacity and handle well on the road.

K&N has designed a new polished aluminum high flow air intake system (77-1558KP) for the 3.7 liter engines of the 2008 Dodge Dakota, the 2007 Dodge Dakota, the 2008 Mitsubishi Raider, and the 2007 Mitsubishi Raider.

Dynamometer tests show a 6.14 horsepower gain at 4200 RPM. K&N’s cold air intake design has lower restriction than the factory air box system. K&N removed the intake plenum to help smooth the air entering the throttle body.

The 77-1558KP uses a conical shaped chrome top high flow air filter (RF-1048), and a powder coated heat shield in place of the vehicle’s stock airbox. The extra large heat shield directs incoming fresh air from the factory air inlet into the air filter, isolates the K&N air filter from the engine compartment and allows it to receive a consistent flow of fresh air.

The washable and reusable K&N air filter can perform for up to 100,000 miles before service is required. Installation can be performed in 90 minutes or less. This air intake provides excellent air filtration and a power gain you can feel immediately.  The 77-1558KP is also backed by K&N’s Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Rain blew out the second week of competition, but on the third week of the season Beard competed again at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, North Carolina for a two day Spring Blast event. The second day of the Spring Blast event was rained out, along with the IHRA Division 9 Pro-Am event. Beard left his home in Pennsylvania and went back a week later for the next event, the TCI Twins Race in Rockingham. He drove his 1974 Duster and was eliminated in the fourth round.

“I use K&N’s air intake system 57-1516 on my 2000 Dakota Quad Cab with a 4.7 liter engine,” said Beard. “Going back and forth to all these events is expensive. We save gas and noticed improved performance on our tow vehicle. We also use K&N air and oil filters on all of our vehicles. You can’t beat K&N for reliability on and off the track.”

Beard’s next race will be the IHRA Division 9 Pro-Am Race at the Famington Dragway in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
