All little girls have dreams, some want to be princesses while others want to be queens on the racetrack. Two little girls from Byron, Illinois dreamed of racetracks and fast cars without a fairy godmother. Instead they have a father and mother who taught them hard work pays off.

Emma Ballard is 13-years-old and her sister, Arley is 8-years-old. They are drag racers and they are Fast Chicks Racing. Emma is starting her fourth season in Junior Dragster and Arley's first race will be at Byron Dragway.

"I used to race motorcycles, but now it's my two girls turn to race," said Mike Ballard. "We took Emma to all the tracks when she was a baby and she could not wait to get in a car. Now Arley is about to hit the tracks and she can't wait."

Emma has finished in the top 10 point standings in her division all three seasons she has raced. "Sponsorship is part of every racing deal," said Ballard. "I asked the girls to help secure sponsorships and they wrote letters to K&N and K&N responded for the 2009 season."

Ballard has used K&N for more than 20 years. "I'm the owner of Fast Chicks Racing, I'm the bank and I'm the teacher," he said. "K&N makes the best filters on the market."

Fast Chicks Racing will try to hit 11 races this season. "It all depends on school and work schedules," said Ballard. "We will definitely hit 9 races. The other part of the deal is Emma and Arley have to keep their grades up and behave and have respect. I know they will because they are good girls."

Mike and his wife Jill are proud parents. "It's hard to put into words how I feel," he said. "The starting line brings out the butterflies, the adrenaline rush and the teary eyes."

The season is just beginning and Fast Chicks Racing is up and coming. They received a write up in their local newspaper and they received a sponsorship from K&N. Maybe they do have a fairy godmother.

The K&N air intake design replaces the restrictive OEM intake for more power on the naturally aspirated engine. This K&N air intake kit replaces the original stock air box for a power gain you can immediately feel.

The 69-2543TTK features a K&N cone shaped air filter (RU-4730) which is placed in the front left corner of the engine. It is protected from hot engine heat by a powder coated heat shield. The RU-4730 is positioned so it gets fed cooler outside air which aids in the power gain.

The 69-2543TTK uses a CNC machined mass air sensor adaptor that is placed so the air intake system performs within factory computer settings.

This K&N air intake system can be easily installed in 90 minutes or less with simple hand tools. It is backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Not since 1973 has Porsche's legendary RS name plate been available in the U.S. market. In 2007 the 911 GT3 RS hit American soil once again, creating much excitement among racing enthusiasts. The 911 GT3 RS has been described as a street-legal racecar intended as a homologation model for a range of racing series. Wearing a celebrated name like Porsche means the 2007 GT3 RS won't disappoint and neither will K&N's Performance Air Intake System, part number 57-7001.

With the addition of K&N's new Performance Air Intake System, part number 57-7001, GT3 RS owners can realize a gain of nearly 25 horsepower at the wheels! K&N's Research and Development Department tested a 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS 3.6L H6 on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed an increase of 24.65 horsepower @ 6726 RPM. K&N's 57-7001 provides increased performance while maintaining that "O/E" look with a rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube.

K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow. This allows your engine to pull in air with ease compared to the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more power and torque when you need it. With a K&N Performance Air Intake System, consumers can count on extra horsepower whether driving down the Las Vegas strip, or twisting through the famous "Corkscrew" at Laguna Seca.

The 2007 GT3 incorporates ultra lightweight materials throughout. Keeping with the carbon fiber theme, the 57-7001 air intake system uses a conical shaped, carbon fiber top, high-flow air filter (RP-5167) and powder coated two-piece aluminum heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock air box. The result is an air filter that captures harmful particles, flows more air, and increases service life. This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the engine is the rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube. It offers the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers. 57-7001 takes about 90 minutes or less to install, with no cutting or drilling, and is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty.

For increased protection and style, K&N includes Drycharger® filter wrap part number RF-1037DK with this air intake. Drycharger® filter wraps are made from a durable polyester material containing uniform micron openings which will stop small dirt particles and repel water; yet add little restriction to the airflow of your filter.

“I looked at the win light three times going down the track to make sure it was really on,” said Beard. “I couldn’t believe it. I was screaming the whole way down the track and all the way up the return road. We race against the same people in the class just about everywhere we go, but there is something more special about winning a national event.”

Beard’s Volare is powered by a Mopar 360 Magnum crate motor and tips the scales at 3600 pounds. “We use K&N oil filters, K&N air filters and K&N valve breather covers,” he said. “I’m happy to be able to win for a great sponsor like K&N.”

Beard’s Spring Nationals victory gives him a slot in the IHRA Tournament of Champions. The IHRA’s new Tournament of Champions program automatically seeds every National event winner, along with the top three drivers in each division into a single race. It is a sudden-death battle for the World Championship that will be contested at the IHRA World Finals. Beard is in the mix and will hold a small home-track advantage.

Russian Teen Shatters Australian's Record in World Speedway Grand Prix

In the last decade the World Speedway Grand Prix has been dominated by Jason Crump, Tony Rickardsson and Nicki Pedersen. At the start of the 2009 season a 19-year-old Russian teenager shook up the Grand Prix world and became the youngest winner ever in the opening round at the Marketa Stadium in Prague.

Emil Sajfutdinov broke the record held by Jason Crump for the past 13 years. Crump won the British Grand Prix in 1996 at the age of 21. “I am so pleased for young Emil Sajfutdinov,” said Crump. “I remember when I won my first Grand Prix and there is no way to describe the feeling. I never believed this year’s Grand Prix was just between Nicki and me. There are some terrific youngsters coming through.”

The established order of the past decade of Grand Prix action was also upset by Swedish rider Freddie Lindgren. Lindgren finished 10th in the 2008 season but finished in second place in Prague. He also had the leading points of the night.

Crump, a two time World Speedway Champion made the podium and finished third overall. Crump struggled at times in the heats trying to get grip on the super slick track. His win in the semi-final gave him another chance in the final to take top honors.

“My start in the final saw me last into the first turn so I knew I had my work cut out,” said the Australian Rider. “Making the final and getting a podium position was a good result. If I can make the final at every round this year I will be happy. There are nine more GP’s and I have a lot of hard work ahead of me if I am to win a third World Championship.”

Crump uses K&N products. “I love K&N filters, they are the best in the world,” he said. “I have solely used K&N products and never had a problem. K&N is the best for dirt track racing. I am racing for the World Championship and I only put the best on my bikes. K&N delivers just that.”

Round two of the Speedway Grand Prix World Championship takes place at Leszno in Poland on May 5.
