Allard and the Williams Motorsports Team put together an impressive race and scored a second top-five in the World of Outlaws sanctioned event. Allard finished 4th on Saturday night. In the 2008 event, Allard finished third.
The Chico, California native scored a third place finish in the opening heat race on Friday night and took fourth place in the dash. This put him in an outside row starting spot for the 30 lap preliminary main event.

Allard ran with the top five contenders for most of the race and exchanged positions with Tim Kaeding several times. After a handful of laps Allard lost a spot and finished sixth on opening night.

By Saturday, Allard had enough points to put the K&N Filters machine on the outside of the third row for the $50,000 to win Gold Cup Race of Champions main event. After 40 laps of racing Allard finished in 4th place, behind Joel Saldana, Jason Sides and Jason Meyers.

“It was an honor to run up front with the best guys in sprint car racing,” said Allard. “The car has been fast throughout the season and I want to thank our sponsors and supporters who give us the opportunity to race. We use K&N oil and air filters along with K&N’s carbon fiber air box. K&N makes the best products, the oil and air filters are easy to use and maintain. K&N gives us an edge in sprint car racing and is dependable every time.”

K&N supported driver Andy Forsberg and the A&A Motorsports Team started 3rd in the B-main event on Friday night. “Andy raced hard,” said Candace Forsberg, Andy’s mother. “With only two laps remaining our Crew Chief Brian Cannon was hit in the head with a rock and needed six stitches. He didn’t let it stop him from working and made adjustments on Andy’s car for the start of the A-main.” In the end Forsberg took 19th place.

“It was a great weekend for the A&A Motorsports Team,” said Forsberg. “We made our 4th A-main with the World of Outlaws at the Gold Cup in four out of the last seven years. It’s also great to have supporters like K&N who make great products. We wouldn’t use any other filter on our race cars.”

Allard and the Williams Motorsports Team return to racing with the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals this October and Forsberg and the A&A Motorsports Team head to Petaluma Speedway for 360 Civil War Race in California September 19.

The Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle combines power and handling in the middleweight super sport class. The 2008 through 2016 models are super sport bikes popular in the United States and Europe, especially in Spain. These bikes hold their value well as there is a huge demand for used R6 models.

The YZF R6 was the world's first 600cc stock production motorcycle with a four-stroke engine that could produce more than 100 horsepower. Owners looking for a performance accessory to build on the stock performance of this sport bike can find it with K&N. K&N designed a high flow replacement air filter, part number YA-6008, for 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycles.

This performance air filter is designed to provide high airflow, increased horsepower and acceleration while providing engine protection. It is custom made for the YZF R6 and like all K&N performance air filters it is washable and reusable.

The YA-6008 is shaped with a urethane molded frame for a proper seal and extra long life. This pre-oiled air filter will fit directly inside your OE air box assembly. Simply remove the stock air filter and install the K&N air filter into the stock air box.

There are three clips on the air filter that will slide into place into the air filter cavity in the air box. Our K&N air filter will only fit into the air box one way. Do not remove the air filter o-ring in the air box. Once you apply pressure, the K&N motorcycle air filter will snap into place. Use the stock screws to secure the K&N air filter to the air box. The center screw on the air box lid holds the air box lid and air filter into place.

K&N’s YA-6008 is covered by K&N’s famous Million Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your Yamaha will ever need.

For 2008 to 2016 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycles used only in pavement racing environments, K&N offers its two-ply cotton media replacement air filter, part number YA-6008R for less restriction and increased horsepower and acceleration.

Jerrod Hull Motorsports Rebounds in 2009 with Sprint Car Racing Wins

Jerrod Hull in his sprint car.

To be successful in racing, it must first start with the heart.  Jerrod Hull’s heart led him to racing BMX bicycles at the age of six, and he has never looked back. What started at a tender age has led Jerrod to become a dominant force each and every time he hits the track today with his own sprint car operation. Jerrod Hull bleeds black and white checkered blood.

Hull first purchased a sprint car from legendary Hall of Famer Sammy Swindell. Early success in the sport fueled the passion as Jerrod quickly found his niche in racing. Success has come easy at times, but there have been difficult times as well. Never once has Jerrod Hull Motorsports had the capabilities of big dollar sponsorship. It has been Jerrod’s determination to run the front, but at the same time, he has carried a philosophy to know when to call it a good run and end a night early.

“I catch a lot of grief sometimes when I pull in (to the pits or infield) when the car isn’t handling right,” explains Hull. “I take it in stride because without some of the funding as these other guys have, I have to make things last a little longer. We don’t necessarily have the top-level equipment in our program; we have the best equipment that will last while still being competitive. If I can load up the car at the end of the night in one piece and have to make a small repair versus blowing a motor, I am happy.”

There have been many tracks across the country where Hull has found success over the years, but only one stands out in everyone’s mind, and that is Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois. Hull won his first and only track championship in 1997 at the venue. His philosophy of running an “outlaw-type” schedule throughout the Midwest has kept him from repeating that performance. Jerrod wins 41 percent of the time he races at Morgan County Speedway, with an astonishing 90 percent rate of 5th place or better over his career.

Hull has won 12 events at nine different racing venues making for an already extraordinary 2009 season.
Hull has won 12 events at nine different racing venues making for an already extraordinary 2009 season.

“Jacksonville has always been a great place for me to race. It was one of the first places we went when we first got started, and I quickly fell in love with the track and the fans, says Hull. “Winning the Herb Barlow race there twice in my career has got to be one of my biggest highlights personally. It’s an annual race that a lot of guys want to win in this area, and I have been blessed to win it two times. I hope for a couple more before I am done.”

Hull is the all-time winningest driver with not just one, but two sanctioning bodies; the Midwest All Star Series and the Sprint Invader Association. He is also the only champion the Midwest All Star Series has ever had taking championships in 2007, 2008, and positioned to claim the title in 2009 considering his substantial lead in the points.

The 2009 season started out with a bang. But before we can begin talking about 2009, we must reflect on how the 2008 season ended for the Sikeston, Missouri hot-shoe. In early October at the Queen’s Royale, one of the area’s biggest events at Farmington, Missouri, Hull utilized a brand new chassis and instantly shot to the lead in his heat race. He was leading the field by more than a half-track when disaster struck. A faulty fuel line pumped fuel into the cockpit soaking Hull’s driver suit, which quickly ignited.

He brought the car to an abrupt halt and made an attempt to get out of the emblazed sprinter. While trying to alight, he twisted his leg and fell to the ground. The car was out of gear, causing it to roll over part of Hull’s leg. Injuries sustained included minor burns, a torn ACL, torn MCL, and a torn meniscus, which put him on the shelf for the remainder of the year. He was particularly dismayed to miss the trip to the Short Track Nationals, as well as his annual trip to Florida Speed week.

The rebound would begin in the first event of the 2009 season. At a USCS event in Malden, Missouri, Hull picked up where he left off, ahead of the pack in his heat race. With just two laps left in a dominating performance, Hull brought his sprint car to a stop in the infield, concerned about motor issues. Once back into the pits, the diagnosis was a broken setscrew, which was quickly remedied, and Hull was sent out for the night’s feature event starting in 22nd position. He methodically passed each car on his way to the lead, and as the laps wound down, he lapped the field up to 9th position for the win.

The relationship with Hull and his crew chief Scott Bonar has been well documented, but one win has always alluded the duo; a victory together at St. Francois County Raceway in Farmington, Missouri. That all came to an end in a very emotional evening. Just days before the 2009 event, a close friend of the team passed away. Hull rose to the occasion, pulled off the win selflessly, and dedicated the win to their fallen friend.

To date, Hull has won 12 events at nine different venues making for an already extraordinary season. Recently, Hull led the charge in two exciting events in Tennessee with the Midwest All Star Series. Taking a bit of revenge on the state from the 2008 season, he came out of the weekend further ahead in the series points than anticipated. The weekend would set the tone for an exciting event at Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Indiana. In a field stacked with higher financed, former World of Outlaw travelers and bigger horse powered power plants, Hull commanded the night’s event leading the competition to the checkered flag.

Hull is quick to give the credit for the success of the 2009 campaign to God, his crew, and his newly developed product support program. In the offseason, Hull takes time to assess product supporter expectations to be sure he is meeting them all. K&N filters was one of the biggest additions to the program this year, bringing with them the best air filters and oil filters on the market. Hull connected with K&N thanks in part to hiring long time supporter and marketing advisor Robert Cortum, of Got Dirt Racing Promotions, who negotiated the partnership.

“I have personally seen through my own business how Jerrod Hull shares the benefits of partnering with his team,” commented Cortum. Without my involvement with Jerrod Hull Motorsports, I would not be where I am today.”

“The best thing I can do for my sponsors, supporters, and advertisers is to give them back more than they expect,” added Hull. “If they just expect their name on the wing, I am going to show people the product benefits. We are always looking for the opportunity to under-promise and over-deliver. The addition of K&N Filters to our program this year has made a world of difference. We would not have had as much success without their support.”

2009 Knoxville Raceway Track Champion Dominated the 410 Sprint Car Season

“It’s been 14 years since I competed weekly at Knoxville,” said Herrera. “It felt great to win and accomplish the goal we set for ourselves.” Herrera teamed up with car owners Larry and Lori Woodward at the beginning of the 2009 season to run the weekly 410 sprint car program at Knoxville.

Herrera had enough points by the final race night of the season to seal the championship after the heat race in the Larry Woodward 2W sprint car with K&N products. “To say Johnny dominated the season would be an understatement,” said Larry Woodward . “It took a lot of hard work and dedication by Johnny and his crew chief Troy Renfro to be consistent at the track.”

Herrera has raced for 25 years. He drove in the World of Outlaws and took Rookie of the Year Honors in the 1986 series. “My biggest victory was the $50,000 to win 1996 King’s Royal at Eldora Speedway,” said Herrera. “It was amazing because my top wing collapsed during the race but we managed to beat everyone else.” Herrera has more than 100 overall wins to his credit and has won at Knoxville on more than ten occasions. He is also a 12-lap record holder at the track.

“I’ve used K&N my entire career,” said Herrera. “K&N filters works well on the track, give me extra filtration and are easy to maintain. Winning and K&N go together perfectly.”

Herrera will next race at Eldora Speedway in Ohio in a World of Outlaws event.

California Rider on the Road in European Motorcycle Union Supermoto Championship Series

Michelle DiSalvo is a long way from her home in Manteca, California. She is on the road for the European Motorcycle Union (UEM) Supermoto Championship Series.

DiSalvo travelled from Belgium to the third round of the series in Latina, Italy. “The trip to Latina was hot and extensive,” said DiSalvo. “The track is located about 60 miles south of Rome on the western coast of Italy. Our large truck was older and limited to speeds of up to 60 mph.” The race team had to travel slowly through the mountains until they faced an obstacle at the Italian border.

“In order to enter Italy, we had to drive through a 12 mile tunnel,” she said. “The border police told us our truck was too old and therefore the emissions were too great to enter the tunnel. Fortunately, the police changed their minds and let us through.” If the team had to go to another crossing, they would not have made the race at the Italian Track II Sagittario in Latina.

DiSalvo and her crew fortunately made it in time for the technical control portion of the series. “It was hot and humid, but I made it to my second practice session in my RMZ 450 Suzuki with K&N products,” she said. “The dirt looked easy but the jumps made me feel like I was hitting a wall.”

DiSalvo rode over bumps and berms through the grass and dirt track. “I went out for my qualifying race and avoided a huge pileup in the first mound of earth,” she said. “I went through a large cloud of dust and debris to finish the course in 17th place.”

The next day riders dealt with the problems and delays a huge thunderstorm brings to a race track. “I went from wet grass to wet dirt and almost missed the first jump,” said DiSalvo. “I did manage to take 2 more seconds off my best lap time.” Currently DiSalvo is 15th overall in the UEM Supermoto championship standings.

DiSalvo's  motorcycles are equipped with K&N air filters, product number YA-2506XD and K&N oil filters, product number KN-207.

Round 4 of the UEM Supermoto Championship Series resumes in Pas de la Casa, Andorra September 19 and 20.
