Suzuki GSX-R1000 motorcycle owners get a chance to enjoy the road with their race ready super-bike designed for the hardcore motorcycle enthusiast. The GXS-R1000 is one of the lightest high-performance sport bikes on the road today.

Suzuki introduced this bike in 2001 with a 988cc engine producing 160 horses and continues to improve on handling and performance. The 2005 and 2006 Suzuki GSX-R1000 were designed with a 998.6cc, 178hp engine and the 2007 and 2008 Suzuki GSX-R1000 was equipped with a 999cc engine delivering 185 horsepower.

K&N released a race specific air filter (SU-1005R) that is designed to increase horsepower and torque in 2005 to 2008 Suzuki GSX-R1000. The SU-1005R air filter is for asphalt racing use only and is not intended for a dirt track, off-road or highway use.

K&N racing filters are designed with only two layers of cotton to provide even lower air restriction than our replacement air filters and produce more air-flow for the Suzuki's race specific engine. The SU-1005R is a washable and reusable racing filter and comes with a one year limited warranty.

K&N's Suzuki GSX-R1000 racing filter comes with simple instructions that make installation easy. This filter will require some fuel management modifications. For Monster Truck Team Monsters On a Mission, God & Fun Just Go Together

Rock Solid Monster Truck
Rock Solid Monster Truck
Joey & Melissa Stathas have one of the most unique motor sports stories you may ever hear. For starters, their faith in God is the single most important aspect of their lives, one of them raced at 247 MPH in 4.9 seconds, crashed at 150 MPH, then lived to tell about it, and they were both invited to Bermuda with their monster trucks to bring an anti-drug message to all the schools in the British Overseas Territory.

It all started actually, because Joey has always had a need for speed, learned by necessity whatever he didn't already know in order to become an ace mechanic, once owned a retail truck lot, married a woman he loves and respects (and who would catch the fever and become a Monster Truck driver).

When we caught up with Joey and Melissa, they were heading to the next event of the year & shared that they had already traveled 9,000 miles in the last MONTH alone, had competed in 12 events, and were loving every minute of it! That's just a big WOW. It is also a testament to their slogan, "Extreme Faith Based Motorsports." When they are not on the road traveling to the next show, they are raising event funding so they can continue uniting communities and churches with free faith based family entertainment for those less fortunate.

"We are every day Joe's who have a relationship with Jesus Christ, believe that God & fun go together, and are seeing first hand that our unique form of ministry is making a difference among adults and kids who sometimes otherwise may never be exposed to our message of faith", says Joey. Melissa added, "I've run in events where I rolled the truck, beat out big names like Big Foot, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING compares to the smiles on the little kids faces who may have not been fortunate enough to experience monster trucks, and the LOVE of Jesus!"

Joey actually has been an active racer among many sanctioning bodies including USHRA, NHRA, HBA, NBTA, AMTA to name a few. He was actually the one referenced earlier who crashed at 150 MPH, hyper extending his neck, and having to literally use caution with every movement he made for two and ½ years in order to circumvent becoming a quadriplegic. Bottom line? He took care of himself, did a lot of healing, and got involved in the automotive business with a retail truck lot. Their teenage son (Joey Stathas III) spotted an old retired monster truck, convinced dad to buy it, and they used it as a marketing tool to bring people to the lot. Over time, the racer in Joey took charge, they purchased another truck, did an overhaul, and just a few short months later, the truck Rock Solid was driving in monster truck events.

So you say, how did Melissa enter the picture? One day she approached husband Joey, and said "If you can do something to make this truck REALLY strong, I believe I'd like to drive it in competition." Joey just laughed, thinking, "My beautiful blonde wife driving a monster truck?" Days and days passed, when she decided to bring it up again. Joey looked at her incredulous, and said "are you really serious?" She said she was, the truck experienced a makeover, and then the day came for her to do her first run. "Well, we pulled it out into a big field, I climbed up, strapped myself in, and proceeded to hyperventilate. I'm claustrophobic, you see, but Joey just urged me to relax, so that when I finally did, and began to see what the truck would do, was immediately hooked. That was 10 years ago!"

Melissa and son (Nick) became pretty active on the tour circuit until said son decided to marry longtime sweetheart Jazmine, leaving shows already booked with no one to drive. But never fear! The racer in Joey, never fully dormant, stepped back in, confident his neck was fully healed and capable of taking the pounding only a monster truck can dish out. That was two years ago.

"We actually began trying to get a sponsorship with K&N not long after I started driving again," said Joey. "Throughout my entire racing career, and even after the accident, I've always used K&N…they're the best in the business. But when they came out with their super light weight Kevlar filter that helps keep the hat on top of the blower motor, we REALLY needed them, but found out they were only available to sponsors." Melissa added, "It took us a while, but when Bob at K&N came to understand what our mission is all about, he got us a deal, and we are extremely thankful for their constant support." And today, the husband and wife team are still going strong, thankful for every day they have to share the message of Jesus Christ with all new audiences within the United States and beyond.

"We have been truly blessed with five trucks, incredible product sponsors and the grace of God," concludes the Stathas Monsters on a Mission team."

Cody Swanson Most Improved Driver for the 2009 USAC Ford Focus California Dirt Series

The simple goal for the Swanson Motorsports team last year was to improve over the previous year; finishing in the top five would have been an acceptable goal. They exceeded their expectations big time, finishing second in points, with a realistic shot at first, going into the last race of the season.

"I am honored to be named the most improved driver for our efforts in the 2009 season, we worked very hard this year," says Anaheim, California resident Cody Swanson. "All of this would not have been possible without some awesome help and support from our great sponsors and friends," adds Swanson. We use K&N air filters, breather filters and oil filters on our racecar, family cars, and tow vehicles. They work great and are very easy to service."

"I was really excited about our past season and how well we did in the championship. It was a complete surprise when they announced my name as the "Most Improved Driver." We really weren't expecting that. I think titles such as this one are very important to have throughout your driving career, so I was pretty happy to get it. Getting the second place in the championship was also very cool for me, because it was only my second year driving this type of car. The Ford Focus Series was very competitive this year, so a second place in points is an accomplishment for me, and something to build on."

Given the ideal set of circumstances, Swanson would like to be able to move back east within the next few years, and drive for one of the major USAC National Sprint and Midget teams. "I think that would put me in a good position to help me succeed to the next level of professional racing someday," reflects Swanson.

The Swanson family has their roots in Minnesota. Swanson Motorsports was in fact inspired by Grandpa (Chuck) Swanson, who spent many summer evenings racing his '30 Model "A" jalopy on the dirt track of Princeton Speedway. In the late ‘70's, after moving the family to Southern California, Cody's father Kirk, and his two brothers, Chris and Danny, began racing dirt bikes across the desert southwest, ultimately passing the racing bug, and genes, to the newest generation of Swanson boys, Cody and his younger brother Jake.

Kirk works for K&N, in the R&D department and we wondered if having your father work for one of your key sponsors presented any unique challenges. "I think it comes in both handy and it can create a little pressure at times," says Swanson. "It comes in handy because having my dad working for K&N is how I originally received the sponsorship. And it also helps that my dad has all the knowledge of the K&N filters, ensuring that our motor always stays clean and runs properly. But, it creates a little pressure sometimes, because I always want to do my very best and represent K&N well."

Swanson is extremely excited about the coming race season, he is moving up and out of the USAC Ford Focus Series, into the USAC Western States Midget Series. He will be driving for Tres Van Dyne, of Van Dyne Engineering, at all of the pavement races, driving their Beast Pavement Midget, powered by a Van Dyne Chevy engine.

"Then, we will be running our own K&N sponsored car powered by a Van Dyne Chevy on the dirt," say Swanson. "We have teamed up with the Van Dynes' (Tres and Stewart) and will be making an attempt at Rookie of the Year Honors, and hopefully win a few races. It is going to be a fun year and we will be starting it at Perris Auto Speedway for the National and Western States Midget race on February 27th."

K&N has released an air intake system (63-9031-1) that gives these Toyota Tundra models the option of gaining even more horsepower and torque. This K&N air intake replaces the restrictive factory air box and air filter with a custom intake tube and high-flow air filter. The 63-9031-1 is equipped with a non-metallic intake tube that smoothes and straightens air-flow to dramatically reduce intake restriction.

K&N design takes advantage of the extra space under the Tundra's hood by using a large chrome top air filter, part RF-1042. This K&N air filter is washable and reusable. The air filter and air intake are designed to last for the life of your Toyota Tundra.

The 63-9031-1 comes with a powder coated steel heat shield that isolates the filter from the rest of the engine compartment. This directs cooler air toward the air filter. Installation of the 63-9031-1 air intake system is made simple with K&N's detailed instructions. This cold air intake system attaches using all existing mounting points and can be done in 90 minutes or less.

More power is always nice when passing, pulling loads or just getting up a steep incline. Dyno testing of the 63-9031-1 revealed a remarkable 13.05 horsepower gain at 5282 rpm. K&N air intake systems come with a million mile limited warranty and offer an economical performance add-on for your cherished Toyota Tundra.
