Fast Track Racing Ready to Carry Daytona Momentum to Palm Beach International Raceway

Fast Track Racing driver Bryan Silas, a Stuart, Florida native, will be the first to tell you road courses aren’t his thing - at least not yet. Because, when he competes at the Tire Kingdom 150 at Palm Beach International Raceway, he will clearly be the hometown favorite, and who knows what can happen with that.

"It definitely feels good to go to a track and then go back home the same night," said Silas.

After a ninth place finish at Daytona, Silas is currently ninth in points overall headed to Palm Beach, the second of 20 events on the 2010 ARCA Racing Series schedule. He hopes to carry that momentum into a solid top-ten run at Palm Beach, and if he does, there’s a very real possibility he will be the points leader when the checkered flag drops.

We caught up with Silas right before Palm Beach to get his input.

How did it feel getting ninth in Daytona and do you think you can carry that momentum to Palm Beach? Also, talk if you would a little about your new crew chief?

"I feel really confident going to Palm Beach in the top-ten in points. I have been to Daytona three times and this being the first time to be in the Top-20 in points for the season opener, definitely gets the team in a good rhythm for the rest of the season."

"Our new crew chief, Dennis Connor is definitely going to be a plus for this team. We are still getting to know each other, but there is already a good feeling of chemistry between him and I, and the entire team. In order to be competitive in the ARCA Series, that is a crucial ingredient."

If all goes to plan, what are you ultimate racing goals for the future?

"If everything works out perfectly, I'm hoping to be running full-time in one of the three NASCAR divisions, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Nationwide Series and eventually the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. It will show that I can compete with the best drivers in the world, and that I can continually improve my skills. It will also be fun to race against the people that I look up to like Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Mike skinner and the rest of the drivers that compete on that level."

How is your relationship with K&N going so far?

"Overall, I feel like we have a great relationship. They keep us supplied with oil and air filters for our racecars and transport vehicles. K&N filters are vital to how we set that extra horsepower from our racecars, and we wouldn't settle for second best, that's the reason we use K&N."

Any other plans for the coming season that you'd care to discuss?

"Our plans for this season include running the full ARCA Series schedule and contending for the championship. If sponsorship allows, maybe we will be running a few more NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races too. Maybe if I get a free weekend I will be racing my Legend car somewhere in Florida."

Silas’ car owner Andy Hillenburg, the 1995 ARCA driving champion, has been grooming Silas as a driver going on four years.

"This is going to be our year," said Hillenburg. "Bryan has really turned himself into a fine, fine racecar driver. He's still learning, but that's the fun and exciting part to see him learn and improve week to week. I've seen all the work and effort he's put into it, and it's all really starting to show. I'm very proud of him."

The Yukon, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado, Avalanche have become popular choices among truck enthusiasts. Chevy and GMC engineer their trucks and SUV's to withstand the toughest of tasks.

Power and performance is something you can never have enough of with a truck or SUV. K&N designed an air intake system (57-3070) for Select 2009 to 2014 GMC Yukon, Sierra models and select 2009 and 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, Silverado and Avalanche models. The 57-3070 was built to replace the restrictive factory airbox and intake housing with a custom molded intake tube that smoothes and straightens air flow to the engine. The 57-3070 uses a chrome topped K&N washable and reusable air filter (RF-1042) for increased air flow and outstanding engine protection.

K&N dyno testing showed an estimated increase of 10.2 horsepower at 5342 rpm on a 2010 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L when equipped with this performance air intake. K&N air intake system 57-3070 comes with a custom heat shield to help direct cooler outside air into the engine for more power.

The 57-3070 comes with a million mile limited warranty and is guaranteed to add horsepower to your truck or SUV. Typical installation is done in 90 minutes or less.

K&N performance intake system 57-3070 will fit the following vehicles:

Luke Bogacki Wins First NHRA Divisional Trophy at Bradenton Motorsports Park

To claim that winning is everything and the only thing is one stand, to actually believe and live with it, regardless of circumstances, is entirely another. Yes, Luke Bogacki won the first NHRA Division Two trophy of the 2010 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series (LODRS) at Bradenton Motorsports Park, but the victory smacks bittersweet.

"Obviously, I was assured a spot in the final round regardless, and I had a great deal of confidence in my set-up and my own ability. Everything was clicking really well; especially considering it was the first time out this season. But Ray is a very good racer. I'm confident we'd have had a great race were it not for his misfortune. I'd certainly like to believe I'd have had the edge, but I'm equally certain he'd feel the same way. I wish we could have decided it on the racetrack," says Bogacki.

Ray Miller III was involved in a nasty accident just past the finish line following his semi-final win. Miller walked away from the crash unharmed, but was unable to return for the final, allowing Bogacki back-to-back singles to claim the event win.

"I'm just glad Ray-Ray is OK," said Bogacki. "That's a hard thing to watch. One second, we're catching up and cutting up in the staging lanes, the next he's going head-on into the wall at 175 mph. I've never been less excited to win a race, that's for sure. I'd rather get beat than to win like that."

That speaks volumes about the kind of racer and man Bogacki is. There's a lot going on in his personal life too, what with having just sold his house and preparing to move to Southern Illinois with his girlfriend Jessica. "I'm not looking forward to the physical act of moving, but I can't wait to start our life there together," says Bogacki.

On the racing front though, this is Bogacki's first real opportunity to chase NHRA points seriously he says. "We're running both Super Comp and Stock. I've got high expectations for myself, and winning the opening event just boosts those expectations some more. Like the thousands of NHRA competitors that compete nationwide, our goal at this point is obviously to hoist the Lucas Oil Championship trophy at season's end. We're off to a great start, but it's a long road to get to that point. We'll just keep working and see where we end up."

"I've been tickled to death with K&N's continued support of sportsman racing and my Bogacki Motorsports Team, and the continuing high-quality of K&N products," says Bogacki.

"K&N is a company that is in touch with the sportsman racer, and they're constantly working to develop new products that serve us better. Currently, I use the K&N HP-3002 Oil filter on each of my competition vehicles. I also use a variety of K&N carbon fiber scoops and air filtration systems on each of our four racecars, as well as a number of other miscellaneous filters. Plus, I use a K&N filter and cold air kit on my tow vehicles. To date, I've never had any issue with any K&N product. Knowing I have the best equipment available, like K&N's and my other sponsors, allows me to focus on doing my job behind the wheel."

Suzuki LT-R450 Sport ATV Owners Find Additional Power with K&N's Air Intake System

The Suzuki LT-R450 is a race ready sport ATV just waiting for some action. The high-performance LT-R450 was the first ATV model to come ready to race right out of the box. From its Introduction in 2006, Suzuki's LT-R450 continues to be one of the most successful fuel injected sport quads ever built. Suzuki's fuel-injected 450cc engine offers astounding top-end performance, with a technically advanced chassis and responsive, long-travel suspension so you can conquer the toughest tracks.

K&N has released a power gaining air intake system (63-1128) specially designed for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Suzuki LT-R450 ATV driven by a 340 cc motor which delivers adequate power and performance. The 63-1128 will fit into the LT-R450 factory airbox assembly.

Most ATV Sport enthusiasts would agree that Suzuki's LT-R450 could use a little more power and torque. K&N ATV air intake systems are guaranteed to increase horsepower and torque. The 63-1128 air intake system was tested on a 2008 Suzuki LT-R450 and shows an increase of 2.74 horsepower at 6600 rpm.

K&N's high-flow cotton air filter RC-5182XD is a huge reason for the increased in horsepower. This washable and reusable air filter allows for a higher airflow rate than the OE filter. The large media surface of the RC-5182XD traps harmful contaminants from entering your engine while letting it breath easier.

The 63-1128 comes equipped with a unique heat shield that helps block heat from your engine compartment and directs cooler outside air toward your engine.

Installation of the 63-1128 is easy with K&N's detailed instruction sheets. They are designed to guide you through the process of installation in 90 minutes or less.

Austin Reed Ready to Challenge for the SRL Legends Car Championship, and Much More

Austin Reed, the Bakersfield, California native, pilots the number 14 Approved Memory, Kalgard, K&N Filters, Ringers Gloves, (RBP) Rolling Big Power, Vitamin Water Legend car. Whew. With that out of the way let's talk about race-swagger shall we. Reed, the 16 year-old, straight-A high school student has enough to fill a speedway, Toyota Speedway at Irwindale to be exact.

Reed and his father Dave are all smiles after winning the Hard Charger Award

"I ran the full season at the Toyota Speedway," says Reed. We took home three Hard Charger Awards, I think that's more than any other team racing there. So that was big for us." If you want to see what swagger looks like check out Reed's picture on his totally stylish website. Race-swagger, in Reed's case, refers to a very positive, cool confidence, the kind that's an absolute requirement for success in motorsports.

Last season was a learning year for Reed in Legend Cars. "I came from short course, off-road racing, so moving over to pavement cars and running ovals was a lot different than what I have been used to," explains Reed. "Our goal was to get me up to speed and comfortable in the race car. I was really focusing on being smooth and changing my driving style to adjust to pavement. Our season started out with a few top 20's and got better the more races I raced."

"We ran the last two races of the season at The Bullring in Las Vegas. I got fifth in one and ninth in the open race. So I really feel like we are getting a handle on what it takes to get around the track and make good aggressive changes to the racecar. With Legend Cars you have to be very consistent and smooth."

For this season Reed will be totally focused on racing for the SRL Legends Car Championship. It is a new touring series that will take Austin Reed Racing to Roseville, Stockton, Madera, the Orange Show, and of course Irwindale Speedway. "We are racing in a few National events at Blythe and Lake Havasu Speedways in March too," adds Reed.

"My Dad also is the spotter for the number 22 car in the K&N Pro Series West, with driver Jonathon Gomez out of Idaho, and we plan on going up to the northwest and run some Legends races when the West cars are racing. I would like to head back to Charlotte, North Carolina for the Million Dollar Race, but we will have to see if that fits into our budget this year."

"We have a great relationship going with K&N and continue to use the best air, fuel and oil filters on the market. Not to mention we also use the Air Intake kit in our tow vehicle. We noticed that we get way more power going up the Grapevine every weekend in our Chevy Tow vehicle. We know K&N products give us an advantage over the competition. I guess that's no secret. So we want to continue to help promote such a great product."

"I am scheduled to test a NASCAR Super Late Model of Ron Esau's later this year at Irwindale. If that all goes well, and we can fit it in our schedule, I might race one or two Super Late Model races at the end of the year. We really just want to run well and have a chance at winning a race and the SRL Legends Championship. I understand there will be a lot of Legend Cars racing for it, so we have to be prepared for sure," concludes Reed.
