Our on-site composite department builds hand-laid carbon fiber components. The lightweight and superior strength of carbon fiber makes it an ideal construction medium for racing applications. Curing is done in an autoclave where both mechanical and chemical processes ensure precision fitment and structural integrity.

K&N has recently released several new carbon fiber pieces for drag racing vehicles. Part number
100-8512 is our second-generation composite dragster hood scoop. It features a larger opening and improved aerodynamics over our first generation NHRA dragster hood scoop. K&N built this hood scoop while keeping in mind the airflow demands of the increasingly larger displacement engines being used in NHRA competition.

Also new to the line of K&N composite drag racing products is part number
100-8511. This piece is an inner hood scoop designed for use with one of K&N’s pro-stock hood scoops.
100-8511 is compatible with either
100-8506 or
100-8508. This inner hood scoop helps direct airflow by smoothing out the inner walls of the pro-stock hood scoop.
Additionally, K&N has released two new inner hood scoop pans used for mounting hood scoops. Part number
100-8510 features pre-cut mounting holes and is intended to be used on an 8” Braswell dual carburetor setup with a 9.800” center to center spacing. For race vehicles using a different carburetor set up K&N offers a cut-to-fit inner hood scoop pan. Part number
100-8514 does not have any holes and can be cut to fit a single or dual carburetor set up.

K&N has recently released a new cone shaped (round tapered) air filter. This

RC-5183,
is washable and reusable. It will capture harmful particles while
adding little restriction allowing your engine to perform at its best.
The RC-5183
has a powder coated metal top plate for an attractive and functional appearance. It also features an ultra-strong molded pliable rubber flange which absorbs vibration, allowing for secure attachment, and can be stretched up to 1/16" (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes.
RC-5183 comes pre-treated with K&N filter oil so it is ready to use right out of the box.
RC-5183 has a flange length of 1.125 inch (29 mm) and a flange inside diameter of 6 inches (152 mm). It is 7.5 inches (191 mm) tall, has a 9-inch (229 mm) diameter base, and 6.625-inch (168 mm) diameter top.

offset flange inside diameter of 4.488 inches. Flange diameters can stretch up to 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) to fit in-between sizes.

This is Raftery's third win at Jeg's Cajun SportsNationals and his first Top Dragster victory
Lake Charles, Louisiana resident Keith Raftery had little problem winning Top Dragster at No Problem Raceway Park in Belle Rose, Louisiana.
With K&N's support Raftery feels there are many more wins to come
"I feel very fortunate to have won the 2010 Jegs Cajun SportsNationals," says Raftery. "Some of the best racers from all over the country come to No Problem to get a shot at the coveted Wally."
Raftery knows what it feels like to win here, he's accomplished it twice before, in 2005 and 2008, driving his Jerry Bickel Pontiac GTO.
"It is a great feeling to now have won this event in my 2008 Undercover Motorsports Top Dragster powered by Sunset Racecraft. I am looking forward to running both Top Dragster and Top Sportsman at select NHRA Full Throttle National Events this year. To date, I am currently leading the Jegs All Stars points chase in both Top Sportsman and Top Dragster with one race to go. This event takes the number one point's leader, in each of the eight Sportsman classes, to crown a champion of the seven divisions contested. If all goes well, I will be racing the best of the best in Chicago June 3 - 6 at the Route 66 Nationals."
Raftery's relationship with K&N began just this year, and so far into the season, he says he couldn't be happier.
"I am currently using both the K&N air and oil filters. Many people may not know that K&N makes a filter for dragsters. We have tested the filter with no sacrifice in power whatsoever. What I really like about the filter is that it makes the scoop plug a thing of the past. No more having to worry about starting the engine with the scoop plug still in the scoop. This can be a costly mistake. We are off to a good start in 2010, and with the help of K&N Filters, I hope to win another division championship. Linus Sundstrom was the Swedish Rider of the Year in 2008
In just a few short years, Linus Sundstrom has established himself as one of the brightest up-and-coming riders in European Speedway Bike racing. The 19-year-old from Avesta, Sweden is looking to continue his climb through the ranks of Speedway racing and qualify for the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) World Championships.
Sundstrom will be doubling up with The Ipswich Witches team in the British Elite League
In 2008, Sundstrom was the Swedish Rider of the Year. Last season he captured the Under 19 Nordic Championship, and was also a European Team Under 19 Silver medalist for Sweden and a Bronze medalist at the Swedish Under 21 Finals. This season, Sundstrom is setting his sights even higher.
"I want to win the Swedish Under 21 Final and qualify for the Under 21 Individual World Championship," said the Swedish star. "I also want to represent the Swedish Under 21 team in the Under 21 Team World Cup."
In 2010, Sundstrom will be riding for Rye House in the English Premier League and Piraterna in the Swedish Elite League. He will also be debuting in the Polish first League for Start Gniezno, and to cap things off, will be doubling up with The Ipswich Witches team in the British Elite League. When asked, Sundstrom said there's not much difference riding in other countries.
"Of course at times there is a language barrier…but I just love to ride my bike and I don't care where I ride. This year we are looking to ride in over 100 meetings."
The FIM World Championships are a series of 11 races run throughout Europe. Just racing in the series establishes riders as elitists in the world of Speedway racing; And Sundstrom appears to be on the fast track to fame. "It's my long term goal, but it takes a gigantic financial commitment and, like all racing, a little bit of luck, too."
Sundstrom's bike runs a 500cc engine, with a dry clutch and one fixed gear. The bikes have no brakes and can accelerate to 60mph faster than a Formula 1 car. Sundstrom credits K&N's high performance filters in keeping his costs low, and his winnings high.
"A poor quality filter allows dust to penetrate the engine, causing regular engine services which in turn increase the overall cost of racing. However, with the use of a high quality K&N Filter, the dust is kept out and my engine always runs to its highest performance level."
