K&N Releases New Heavy Duty Commercial Grade Air Filter for Large Diesel RV Engines

K&N's 38-2006S is a highly durable, reusable and easy to clean commercial grade air filter.

Heavy Duty Replacement Air Filter
K&N HD air filters were designed specifically to protect commercial grade engines from harmful contaminants. The filter is made from a washable hybrid air filtration media and is comprised of thick lofted non-woven synthetic material.

The 38-2006S Heavy Duty Air Filter comes in a heavy duty steel canister that can be removed to allow servicing. The filter media is highly durable. This allows it to withstand the punishment that occurs from a high compression diesel engine while providing outstanding filtration. Filter servicing is done with K&N's HD Filter Cleaner and a hose or pressure washer. Oiling is not required on this K&N HD air filter. The red color on the outside of the filter is from a dye that compliments the look of the filter. The K&N logo molded on the top of the canister gives you the assurance and protection you require from the leader in air filtration.

The assembly comes with a 90 degree canister and a 5" flange. This new filter has a base outside diameter of 9.5" and a top outside diameter of 7" with an overall total height of 17.5". The complete assembly weighs 15.3 pounds.

To find a K&N heavy duty air filter for your RV or other equipment, go to the K&N cross reference search then select your current air filter manufacturer and part number.

Laraway Motorsports Wins at Dog Hollow and Marion Center Speedways

After being patient for five seasons for his first taste of victory, Dane Laraway now has two.
After being patient for five seasons for his first taste of victory, Dane Laraway now has two.
Laraway Motorsports from Irwin, Pennsylvania experienced a stellar week at the track, posting back-to-back wins Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway, and Saturday night at Marion Center Speedway. Team owner Brian Laraway races two Dirt Late Model cars, and to have both win in the same weekend is a just reward for the teams hard work.
Sammy Stiles is well on repeating as Coal Country Champion, posting five wins already this season.

"We have adopted the philosophy that all races are won and lost in the shop. Without proper shop preparation a team cannot be successful on the track," expressed Brian, an ex-Dirt Late Model racer himself.

On Friday night at Dog Hollow Speedway, Dane Laraway, Brian’s twenty year old son, recorded his first ever super late model victory. Dane has been pursuing the checkered flag for past five seasons, showing increasing improvement and promise each year.

Then following that momentous victory, Sammy Stile recorded his fifth feature win of the season at Marion Center Speedway on Saturday. Stile is an experienced racer, winning the 2009 Coal Country Championship Challenge Series and the 2005 Winning-est Dirt Late Model Driver in Northeastern United States.

When it comes to proper shop prep the same holds true to the products that are fitted on the car, and air filters are no exception according to Brian.

"We are aware that the engine consumes over 10,000 gallons of air for every gallon of fuel, and given the environment that we race in, improper air filtration can dramatically reduce the life of our engines," explained Brain.

"That is why we choose K&N Engineering as our source for air filters. They offer exceptional products that allow us to confidently focus on other aspects of our maintenance program, knowing that we are using the best product on the market to address our air filtering needs. We utilize a K&N air filter (E-3760), the Extreme filter top (66-1401) and the related pre-filters (22-1450PK).

"We started using the Extreme filter top in 2007. We dyno-ed our engines back-to-back with the Extreme filter top and then with a standard lid. The dyno results showed an eleven horsepower improvement. We could not believe the results, so we bolted the Extreme air filter top back on and dyno-ed again. The results were the same. Since then we have never raced without an Extreme air filter top on our cars. On the filter maintenance side we use the K & N filter cleaner, sealing grease and the filter spray."

Team Laraway Motorsports will continue their pursuit of the Coal Country Championship again this year in western Pennsylvania. The series consists of a two track challenge, and pays a bonus of $16,000 to any driver that captures the points at both Dog Hollow and Marion Center Speedways. Last year Sammy Stile was the driver that accomplished that feat. "Since the back-to-back wins the team has definitely enjoyed a boost of momentum. We are excited and looking forward to heading into the mid-season races," said Brian.

Those two wins marked the fifth and sixth for the team this season out of only eleven total races. This past Friday Dane Laraway earned his second ever victory with Stiles placing second. It was yet another spectacular race for the team as Dane won by a mere three inches over his teammate. The team is now seven for twelve.

Jeremy Deakins Stands on Podium at MDR's Bilek Racing 400

A flawless pit stop helped to put the team Deaknbuilt LLC Ranger into a second place finish.
A flawless pit stop helped to put the team Deaknbuilt LLC Ranger into a second place finish.
A knack for keeping your noggin cool while those around you are going bananas is an essential success skill - both on, or off the track.
Although the temptation to drive crazy presented itself, Deakins remained calm and raced within himself.
Although the temptation to drive crazy presented itself, Deakins remained calm and raced within himself.

"The first lap was probably the hardest," remarked Jeremy Deakins, driver of the Lucas Oil/Deaknbuilt Ranger. "It was so clear that I really had to talk myself into maintaining an even pace and not get crazy."

Deakins and his Ranger started first off the line in class 1450 at the Mojave Desert Racing (MDR) Bilek Racing 400 held in Lucerne Valley, California, and he never really looked back. The Ranger dropped into third place near the end of the first 50-mile lap. However, smooth consistent driving and a flawless pit stop, put the truck back into second place, and four-and-a -half hours later, it slid across the finish line over nine minutes in front of third place.
Reaching the podium at MDR's Bilek Racing 400 was one of the best ever finishes for the team.
Reaching the podium at MDR's Bilek Racing 400 was one of the best ever finishes for the team.

Deakins stayed within himself and stuck to his game plan. As he came down pit row at full-speed for the eight time, he understood immediately that this would be one of the best finishes ever for their new team. "Second in class and trouble free, you have to savor days like this," commented Deakins.

"For me, the discipline comes from being the son of a Police Veteran and the grandson of a Korean War Veteran. Every time I get behind the wheel I'm kicking in a door on a SWAT call out, or I'm on the front lines in Korea with a machine gun, knowing that I need to bring the truck home," continued Deakins.

"But most important is that everyone comes home safe. The first 50 miles is the same as the first 200 miles. Stay calm, put my faith in the Lord, fight the good fight and finish the race."

Hearing this particular emotion regarding racing for the first time, Chuck Deakins, Jeremy' dad said, "I was caught a bit off guard by his remarks. I really didn't understand that he felt this way. That response is all his from the heart."

Deakins says his truck is awesome and it was built entirely in his dad's shop, with the help of friends and family. Team Deaknbuilt LLC is still relatively new to racing, so there are routine bugs yet to be worked out, but with every race things keep getting better. Their mantra is one step at a time.

"Thanks to the entire team and our sponsors for making this one happen. We couldn't have done it without you," expressed Deakins.

"Our relationship with K&N is great. For such a big company to sponsor such a small team, to me that's awesome. We do everything we can to represent K&N because we respect them. We run a K&N air filter, filter wrap, K&N oil filter, and we fly K&N flags at every race."

"Our plan for the rest of the season is to bring the truck across the finish line in one piece. I would love to go out there and drop the hammer and battle with the rest of the trucks, but right now is not the time. In the future, as the team and the truck grow, the time will come. We just need to be patient. Second place finish for us was huge. We've struggled for the last two years trying to keep the truck together, but as we grow, we keep getting better. We're definitely gaining momentum."
