The SU-6509 is an air filter that has been designed specifically for the 2009 to 2016 Suzuki SFV650 Gladius factory air box which ensures a perfect seal. A perfect seal is a critical part of reducing the amount of contaminants that are consumed by a vehicle's engine. Using K&N's SU-6509 air filter will enhance the performance of the Suzuki SFV650 Gladius by providing minimal restriction while providing outstanding filtration. Installing the SU-6509 does not require the rider to use any type of fuel management system on a fully stock motorcycle. This makes upgrading to a K&N air filter a breeze.

This filter is also considered eco-friendly because it is both washable and re-usable unlike most air filters that clog up landfills every time they are replaced. The SU-6509 is the last filter you will ever need to purchase for your motorcycle and it is backed by K&N's incredible one million mile limited warranty.

The Nascar K&N Pro Series found its way to the K&N Engineering headquarters Friday before the big race on Saturday, July 3rd in Irwindale, California for an employee appreciation day and a meet and greet with some of the Series' top drivers. The event was located in Riverside, California, where several Nascar Teams overtook the K&N facility to show off their rigs, cars and drivers. Also attending the event was King Taco's, providing excellent food throughout the day, NOS energy drinks provided refreshments for the day, and Nascar even brought their tech trailer to show off some of the technology involved when doing pre and post race car inspections.

K&N just recently took the title sponsorship spot for the Nascar Pro Series, a partnership that has immediately benefitted both parties immensely. Being divided into two groups, the Pro Series East and West have become the top developmental series for today's drivers. The East series is now in its 23rd season, and the West is in its 57th season, featuring races all throughout the Western United States. The two series' are separate in points, but both follow the same set of guidelines for points, rules and vehicles. Both the East and West Series' have been the gateway for many of Nascar's biggest names, including Kevin Harvick and Joey Lagano.

The K&N Nascar Pro Series employee appreciation day was a great opportunity for the drivers to show their appreciation for both the great sponsorship K&N has given them, and the great products K&N produces that are being used on just about all of the cars. "We love having K&N as a sponsor; they have great products and a history very similar to Nascars" says Kevin Green, a top writer for Nascar. Luis Martinez Jr., driver of the #6 Kind Taco/Sunrise Ford/ Lucas Oil Ford said "he was honored to have K&N as a sponsor for the series." Luis started as a kid in cart-racing and in a very short period of time has moved up to be a top driver in the Pro Series West division.

Throughout the day, there were several activities for the employees and drivers to enjoy. Nascar brought a remote controlled circle track with several cars for the employees to race on to get a small taste of what the Pro Series drivers do on a much larger scale. Winners of each race had the choice of some great K&N apparel; either a cool K&N fitted hat or several choices of some hot his or hers K&N t-shirts. NOS energy also has some great prizes for their bean bag toss game while providing free samples of their great varieties of energy drinks. King Taco's, another great sponsor for the Nascar Pro Series, was on site providing lunch for everyone attending. Several different types of tacos with all the fixings were available.

The K&N Nascar Pro Series is off to a great start, with some very competitive drivers fighting for the top spot in points. For more information, check out NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West to follow races, drivers and more.

Melissa Westerman Gets Win and Makes the Finals at Top Gun Raceway

Westerman missed winning the final in Fallon by a heart-stopping two-hundredths of a second, running a 7.634 ET on a 7.65 dial.
Westerman missed winning the final in Fallon by a heart-stopping two-hundredths of a second, running a 7.634 ET on a 7.65 dial.
Undeniably - girls just wanna have fun. There are even those approaching that particular pursuit with extreme, electrified passion. Take Sonoma State University Alumni Melissa Westerman for example. When she isn't scorching dragstrips in her Pro-class Mustang, or her GirlPowerRacing.com dragster, you might find her in the dojo exercising her Taekwondo black belt, or excelling in any number of other sports.
Winning Saturday's race and getting runner-up on Sunday has Westerman Racing sitting atop the NorCal Top Comp Association points race.
Winning Saturday's race and getting runner-up on Sunday has Westerman Racing sitting atop the NorCal Top Comp Association points race.

When the Sonoma, California native isn't racing, or tracking all things fast and furious, she works full-time "shaping the taste of fine wine" at a company that produces barrel alternatives. And, if she isn't doing any of those things, she might be competing in tractor pulls. Yeah, we'll get back to that.

Westerman began drag racing in 1998, while she was still in high school. She went to the Summit ET finals three times, representing Infineon Raceway in Sonoma. After high school she stepped her Mustang up to the Pro-class for a few years, then moved to the Super Pro-class that she competes in today. In the 2009 she finished second in points in the Nor Cal Top Dragster Association. Westerman has managed to build a racing career, graduate from college with a degree in Business Administration, and is apparently having a ball the entire time.

Recently Westerman Racing traveled up to Top Gun Race way in Fallon, Nevada and she won Saturday's race. "We got paired up against the same car we were in the finals with last the Saturday before," remarked Westerman. "We dialed a 7.64 and ran a 7.647, it felt great to see that win light come on at the finish."

Westerman made it into the finals on Sunday too and ran a double break out. Unfortunately she broke out more than she wanted to, against her opponent who ran a 6.87 on a 6.88 dial.

"Unfortunately we didn't take home the finals win due to a double break out. We dialed a 7.65 elapsed time and broke out by running a 7.634, almost two-hundredths of a second off our dial. Our competition broke out by only one-hundredth of a second giving them the win. It all happened so fast at first it was hard to tell who crossed the line first. It was a good race weekend though, winning one race and runner up in the second. We were able to take the points lead in the NorCal Top Comp Association with only six races to go."

She also made a point of showing her appreciation for the continuing support she receives from K&N, saying "Westerman Racing has built a strong relationship with K&N on and off the track. The customer service and products at K&N are phenomenal and we continue to use and promote K&N products on our race cars as well as all our daily drivers. When the race schedule allows, we compete in California truck pulls with a Dodge Cummins that also uses K&N reusable filter products for air, oil, and crankcase."

"As stated before, I've started to do truck pulling with my boyfriend's Dodge Diesel," revealed Westerman. "So far I've pulled four times, winning three times, and breaking the truck three times. This past weekend we were at Redding Drag strip in Redding, California for the NHRDA truck pulls. At the end of our 301' pull (300' is a full pull) the rear spider gears broke, but we won in our class with second place pulling 276' and third was a 263' pull. The Redding event is the largest diesel truck pull on the west coast and had 12 trucks competing in our class. So even though we broke, coming out on top was a great feeling."
