Video - K&N Air Intake Installation for 1999-2004 Chevy/Silverado & GMC Sierra 1500 Pickups

K&N has a new installation video demonstrating the simple install process of K&N air intake 57-3021-1. This easy to install performance air intake fits 1999 through 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 models with 4.8L and 5.3L engines. K&N air intakes are guaranteed to increase horsepower, they come with a Million Mile Limited Warranty and they can go up to 100,000 miles before air filter servicing is required, depending on driving conditions.

K&N's 57-3021-1 non-metallic tube dramatically reduces intake restriction as it smoothes and straightens air flow resulting in a guaranteed power gain. Dyno testing was done on a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickup with a 5.3 liter engine.  It showed an estimated peak gain of 9 horsepower at 5352 rpm.  K&N's 57-3021-1 is available and easy to install on your Silverado or Sierra 1500 pickup truck, usually in less than 90 minutes. This video provides a summary of the installation process but you should always refer to the 57-3021-1 instruction sheet for full installation details.

Team Gorilla-Axle Powered by Can-Am Cleans House at the 2011 MUD Nationals

In addition to racing, team Gorilla-Axle also does a lot of trail riding for even more exposure for our team and their sponsors.

If it works don't fix it, which is why Mud Creek Off-Road Park, just outside of Jacksonville, Texas, once again played host to the High Lifter Mud Nationals. The ATV Mud Nationals started back in 2003, when a few friends, customers, and ATV enthusiasts got together for a weekend of mudding, to showcase products and share ideas. At the present, this once a year event has become the largest utility ATV and UTV event in the world. This year alone more than 10,000 enthusiasts made the 2011 Mud Nationals the largest to date, and all indications are that next year it will grow even larger as more people make peace with their inner mudder.

At this year's Mud Nationals Gorilla Racing, the home team from Jacksonville collected four podium finishes in five classes - first in Pro-A Muddacross (Mark Wise), third in Pro-B (Seth Russell), second in RUV (Mark Wise), and third in the Women's class (Lisa Wise). Gorilla-Axle is the go-to product line for muddin' competitors and with the team's commanding results it easy to understand why.

"Our team, Gorilla Powered by Can-Am, is a factory sponsored team of mud racers from all over the South," the team's General Manager, Greg McMullen, told K&N Race News. "We are currently in our fifth year of sponsorship from Can-Am and we are having great success this year. Every year Can-Am sponsors us new ATVs/RUVs to heavily modify strictly for mud racing. Our racers usually purchase additional Can-Ams to race in other classes along with the sponsored units. This gives us a fleet of up to 25 ATVs/RUVs that are a major presence at every event. In addition to racing, we also do a lot of trail riding for more exposure for our team and our sponsors. This usually garners just as much attention if not more than the races."

In only the first three events of the 2011 season team Gorilla-Axle has already amassed a total of 14 podium finishes.

McMullen continues, "Our success can be attributed to two things - high quality products, combined with preparation. We start with the best ATV available, Can Am, and modify it with Gorilla lift kits, Gorilla Axles, Gorilla Silverback tires, K&N filters, and many more products. Our race experience helps us prep the units so that they perform well in the race at hand."

"We have overall goals we would like to accomplish over the course of the season," adds McMullen, "But to get there we must focus on one race at a time. Winning the overall points championship in each class is our ultimate goal."

Team Gorilla Powered by Can-Am races next in Dozier, Alabama, on June 11.

The 2011 to 2016 Commander comes equipped with either a 800cc (SSV800) or 1000cc (SSV1000) engine. K&N part number CM-8011 is designed to increase horsepower for both models. Unleashing the true potential of this vehicle begins with a K&N high-flow replacement air filter.

Not only is part number CM-8011 designed to deliver better performance with its high flow media, it also offers excellent filtration ensuring your side-by-side engine will be protected from harmful contaminants.  The pleated design allows for a long service life even in some of the dustiest conditions.  Once the filter does get dirty simply wash and re-oil it to a like new condition. Great air filtration and a long service interval is a must, especially in an off-road vehicle like the Commander.

CM-8011 is a factory replacement ATV air filter that installs exactly the same way as the OEM air filter. It also comes pre-oiled from the factory which means it is ready to install right out of the box. K&N's CM-8011 comes with a warranty against defective workmanship for one year after the date of purchase with no mileage limitation.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series Race at Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina Adds to History

Bowman Gray Stadium in North Carolina is tied to the birth of NASCAR. It was one of the first tracks NASCAR visited in 1949. Alvin Hawkins and Brian France Sr. promoted races at the track in those first years of NASCAR. Richard Petty won his 100th NASCAR race at Bowman Gray. Ralph Earnhardt, Glen Wood and Lee Petty raced at the quarter-mile track in the early days of stock car racing.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series will add to the NASCAR history at Bowman Gray Stadium on June 4 and it will be captured in documentary form in a film called "One Night In June."

Bowman Gray Stadium hosted its first NASCAR Grand National race in 1958. On June 4, the track will host its first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race. The track is home to the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and the Whelen Southern Modified Tour. Track promoter Gray Garrison said the K&N Pro Series will bring the first full-body cars to the track since the Grand National days. The last NASCAR Grand National race at Bowman Gray was in 1971.

"It's just a who's who of racing basically when you look in the record book at Bowman Gray," Garrison said. "There is so much historical stuff there that's where a lot of it came from."

Ben Kennedy and Robert Johnson are two drivers who will provide a link from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series race to the NASCAR roots of the track. Kennedy is the great grandson of Bill France Sr. Johnson is the son of Junior Johnson. Both drivers will be entered in the K&N Pro Series race at the track.

"We got the new generation too," Garrison said. "I think it's going to be an eye-opening experience for a lot of them because we're probably going to be the smallest track that they'll run on the circuit. It's a quarter-mile, flat bull ring. We are a unique little track here in North Carolina. A lot, a lot of history."

Junior Johnson, Davey Allison and Tiny Lund are among the winners at Bowman Gray Stadium. Richie Evans and Jerry Cook won modified races at the track. Richard Childress used to sell peanuts in the stands before he became one of the most successful NASCAR team owners.

"NASCAR thought it would just be a good match to run a K&N race here," Garrison said. "We're kind of in the hot bed of racing here in North Carolina. They just felt like it was going to be a good match to run and come back full circle with the Hall of Fame here in North Carolina. Ben Kennedy, I guess that would be first, second, third, fourth generation, competing in the K&N Series. They thought it would just be good historically. We all sat down, talked about it and we decided to run one and see what happens."

What will happen is anybody's guess. It's the first time in 40 years full-fendered stock cars will be on the tiny track. Garrison said he doesn't know how the race will play out, but he knows it will be fun to watch.

"We were going into this with some apprehensions," Garrison said. "Our appresenhiveness is when you get a batch of young, aggressive drivers on a small, quarter-mile track, there's an excitement going to be happening. Not sure how much or where, but it's going to be exciting, I can guarantee you that."
