This year Dodge has managed to beef up their advertising campaigns to initiate the rebirth of the Durango. The Dodge Durango includes distinctive styling, updated entertainment system options, and a 3.6 liter V6 engine. Towing capacity for the 3.6L Durango is quite impressive and is rated at around 6,000 pounds. Improved steering response gives the driver a feeling like they are behind the wheel of a midsize sedan. The new Dodge Durango is a breeze to maneuver. Dodge has really done a fantastic job with Durango models.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee also received an update in its quest for a comeback. It is arguable but, most would say the Jeep Grand Cherokee was stuck in a rut for the last decade. A slump normally signifies the bottom of an upward climb. Last year's Jeep Grand Cherokee must have been rock bottom because this year's model is quite impressive. The 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee still provides excellent off road support and stays true to the one of a kind Jeep styling. It utilizes a 3.6 liter engine and offers three four wheel drive systems depending on driving needs.

Luckily for these returning veterans, K&N manufactures a power gaining air intake system that matches both vehicle specifications. 2011, 2012 and 2013 Dodge Durango and 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee models with the 3.6 liter engine can now benefit from increased air flow and performance by replacing the factory intake system with the K&N's 77-1560KTK air intake.

This K&N cold air intake system is designed to increase vehicle power and acceleration, by reducing restriction in the intake path. K&N's 77-1560KTK power testing showed an estimated gain of 10.7 horsepower at 5447 rpm when tested on a 3.6 liter 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

The 77-1560KTK performance air intake comes with a powder coated steel heat shield that isolates the filter from the rest of the engine compartment. This directs cooler air toward the air filter. The intake's tube is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube with a textured black finish.  Installation of the 77-1560KTK air intake system on your Dodge Durango or Jeep Grand Cherokee is made simple with K&N's detailed instructions. This K&N Dodge Durango/Jeep Grand Cherokee air intake system attaches using all existing mounting points and can be done in 90 minutes or less.

The K&N air filter can go up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed, depending on driving conditions. K&N recommends servicing this K&N air filter using a K&N Recharger kit.  K&N is so confident in their products they back the 77-1560KTK air intake with their million mile limited warranty.

K&N's Jeremy Parr 2011 ISJBA Freestyle National Champion

The 2011 International Jet Sports Boating Association (ISJBA) tour consisted of seven rounds of competition spread out across the United States, with the overall points tally deciding the year end results. Consistency was once again the name of the game for both rider and equipment, and for the second year in a row, no one was any more solid than K&N sponsored, Jeremy Parr, the 2011 ISJBA Freestyle National Champion.
Jeremy Parr said he maintained a higher level of physical fitness in 2011 than in years past.
Jeremy Parr said he maintained a higher level of physical fitness in 2011 than in years past.

"It's tough to pick out a particular highlights," Parr told K&N Race News, "It seems like we work so hard to get to the first event and then they fly by so fast that the season is wrapped up before you know it. But, if I had to pick one round of the tour, I'd say the Racine, Wisconsin event stands out most. Two things were different there; first the event was almost called early due to a fog bank that would not leave us on Sunday. We ended up getting just enough of a break to run the Freestyle competition. It really was an eerie feeling on Lake Michigan at times, knowing I was only a short distance away from the beach, but I couldn't see anything. And the second thing that stands out is that I pulled off a come from behind victory there that really set the tone for me for the rest of the tour."

Parr explained that defending his 2010 title was extremely hard work and that is why it is such an enormous source of pride and confidence for him. This year Parr trained harder than he ever has before and he focused on maintaining a higher level of physical fitness than in years past. "Most importantly, it takes help from all of my sponsors, family and friends to make this possible," adds Parr. "K&N is a huge help, not only with the air-intake on my ski, but also with my tow vehicle, as we drove about 20,000 miles this summer. The power and fuel mileage increase is one of many keys to success."
Parr successfully defend his title and was crowned the 2011 ISJBA Freestyle National Champion at the Charleston, West Virginia event.

The IJSBA competition ladder is three-tiered beginning with "Local." There are over 500 local events worldwide for beginners looking to try their hand at competition. The second step up the competition ladder is the "National Championship Races," these events determine both the National Champion and the eligibility for participation at the World Championship. The IJSBA sanctions over 43 National Championships worldwide and the World Finals held every year since 1982 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, is the true focal point on the IJSBA calendar.

"I'm excited for the World Finals this year because I have not competed in this event in about five years. X-Scream has provided so much support for me this year, and has given me a few options for WF," said Parr. "I have several years of experience from WF though, and my goal this year is to keep my head on straight and let my performance do all the talking. It's too easy to get overly pumped up at WF, which can lead to over-riding your abilities and blowing your chances for a podium finish. I've been getting in lots of practice time since the National Tour ended in August and I'm feeling great!"

Parr insists that he's going to take a little break over the winter. After it's all said and done, Jet skiing is still about fun, and that's how Parr likes to keep it. "It helps to take a break every so often to keep that fire burning and it keeps me pushing forward. Being that I'm married, I'm sure some other 'plans' will come along too, as my wife loves to travel. Personally, I'd love to get a ski trip to Colorado in the works," concludes Parr with a smile.

Home maintenance on ones car is a dying art. 30 years ago, it was commonplace to see gearheads wrenching on their cars in the front yard, changing oil or modifying the engine. But these days, specialty shops and improved performance and a change in society seem to have eliminated those summer weekends under the hood. But for those gearheads who still like to add performance in a do-it-yourself environment, K&N Filters has a full line of products designed to satisfy your needs.

Meet Tom Bogner; the car enthusiast and Director of Motorsports for Lucas Oil Products recently decided that upgrading his mothers vehicle would be a great opportunity for some quality family time. Bogner called his mother, Madonna Parker, and invited her over for lunch. Then, the two, along with Bogner's 17-year-old son Zac, embarked on an hour-long trip to the garage, where the three installed a Cold Air Kit on Parker's 2008 Saturn Sky Turbo.

"I've been running K&N Air Filters and Cold Air kits on my cars for years and have been very happy with both the performance gain and fuel economy they provide," Bogner said. "(Mom) is not a mechanic by any means, yet knew that my son, Zac, would also be involved. I decided to shoot the pictures to show to (K&N Filters Executive) Bob Harris just for fun, yet I also felt people should see how easy these kits are to install."

Now, one might think that a retired teacher with no mechanical background would have little to no interest in grabbing a tool set and installing parts on a car. Well, one would be wrong. Parker looked at it open-mindedly, and enjoyed the family outing.

"I don't remember feeling skeptical at all," Parker told K&N. "It was fun, interesting, and exciting to work alongside my son. He kept telling me all of the different improvements installing the Cold Air Kit would bring to my car, from added pickup to better gas mileage. I was all over that!"

Bogner said the installation was simple because of the detailed instructions and the easy to follow pictures. He went on to mention how well the kit was designed, and how easy it was to access the intake. "No additional modifications were required and very little tools were used. (K&N's) engineering department did their homework."

"My part in it was mostly handing Tom the tools, but listening to his excitement about the product and sharing an hour with my son on his turf really brought joy to a mothers heart," Parker went on to say.

When the installation was complete, Bogner and Parker fired up the Saturn and went for a drive around town.

"It's always fun to take the car out for a spin after making modifications," Bogner added. "We took it out right away and being a turbo charged car, you could really not only feel the difference, but hear it too. On the Saturn Sky Turbo, the K&N Cold Air Kit really cleans up the engine department, and the carbon fiber housing really gives it that racecar look."

Grandma Parker added, "Thanks for the extra kick and new, revved-up engine sounds K&N. I love it!"

Josh Lucas Racing Notches 3rd Win of 2011 at Richmond Speedway

Lucas isn't certain why he and his car like Richmond so much, but he generally knows right after taking hot-laps whether he has the car to win on any given night.
Lucas isn't certain why he and his car like Richmond so much, but he generally knows right after taking hot-laps whether he has the car to win on any given night.
There are several things we have comprehensively established about New Haven, Kentucky's Josh Lucas - he's a devoted family man, he drives the No.78 dirt modified, and he really loves to compete at Richmond Speedway.

"This was our third win at Richmond Speedway. We set fast time (16:591), we won our heat race and sat on the pole for the feature. Then we again lead all 20 laps of the feature," Lucas told K&N Race News.
Josh Lucas and his K&N sponsored N.78 car won three times in 2011 at Richmond Speedway.

Lucas says that every win is special and feels just like the first one. "I guess it's because it's just my dad, my mom, my brother and me that work on it. Mom and dad do a little more during the week than me. And my brother Shawn comes to every race and helps us at the track. It's a family affair and it just makes the win that much more exciting."

The K&N sponsored driver doesn't over-analyze the what-not and whys regarding his repeated success at the three-tenth of mile, clay surfaced Richmond Kentucky track, he just drives. "This car really likes the Richmond track for some reason, I don't know if it's because it is a small track or what. After hot-laps I can pretty much tell if we have the car to win and I felt another win coming on that night."

"Dad always says the car can be faster, so we are always making changes," continued Lucas. We try out things in hot-laps, if we don't like it, or the car doesn't like it, we change it back."
Lucas is all about family and he sends a special shout-out to his dad, Gerald, for everything he does.

For Lucas Racing 2011 has great season of racing, with three trips to victory lane "and lots of top-five finishes," adds Lucas. "We traveled some this year, and when you go to different tracks, it's hard to beat the local drivers. But overall we have been happy with our results."

The season ended a bit sooner than Lucas had planned when he flipped his car last Saturday at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky. "It was an easy roll-over and I landed back on the wheels, but I did do quite a bit of damage to the front suspension." With only two races remaining on their schedule, the decision was made to tear down the No.78, evaluate the damage and start rebuilding for the 2012 season. "We haven't really talked much about next season, but I am sure we will be visiting Richmond Speedway several times next year along with traveling to some different tracks."

"We had a good year and we want to thank K&N for all their support and the great products that we use throughout the year like filters, filter oil and the cleaner. You really have the best products on the market today. I also want to give a big thank you to my dad, he is always trying to make the car faster, he does a lot of the work every night, and he is also the money man behind the car. Thank you DAD!"

Jonathon Payne Wins His Third Consecutive Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Points Race

Of his last eight races of the 2011 season, Jonathon Payne managed to walk away with six victories.
Of his last eight races of the 2011 season, Jonathon Payne managed to walk away with six victories.
Winning the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League points race for the previous two seasons, Jonathan Payne and team Major Payne went into 2011 with aspirations of taking the title one more time. Well, Payne and his crew were once again successful. When all was said and done, they walked away with 261 points, exceeding the second place driver by sixteen points.
Jonathon Payne and Major Payne Pulling recently won the points race in the Lucas Oil pro Pulling League for the third consecutive season.
Jonathon Payne and Major Payne Pulling recently won the points race in the Lucas Oil pro Pulling League for the third consecutive season.

As the season's end drew near, Payne and his crew focused on holding on to their lead in the points race. As far as they were concerned keeping his Major Payne Ford running strong and making the right gear choices were two essential ingredients of the recipe for success. Evidently, Jonathon and Team Major Payne were able to do just that throughout the remainder of the season, as the driver managed to earn six victories during the final eight pulls of 2011.

Throughout the entire season, Jonathon Payne has gone toe to toe with his fellow competitors from the seat of a 2005 Ford extended cab Ranger. The 485 cubic inch engine nestled between the fender welds was fueled through a single four-barrel carburetor. Gripping the dirt were four 31-15.50-15 Dick Capex Pulling tires.

Granted, all of Payne's fellow drivers sported impressive trucks, engines and tires as well. That said though, Payne's rig differed a great deal in one aspect in particular; he was one of few drivers manning a Ford. In fact, According to Jonathon, he was pretty well the only competitor in the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling league throughout Indiana, Kentucky and Tennessee, pulling with a Ford while one other driver from Illinois who attended pulls on a consistent basis shared his make of pickup.
Jonathon Payne and Major Payne Pulling have depended upon K&N filters to protect their engine from dust, dirt and grime for the past twelve seasons.
Jonathon Payne and Major Payne Pulling have depended upon K&N filters to protect their engine from dust, dirt and grime for the past twelve seasons.

When asked why Chevy's seemed to be the most popular makes of trucks in the league, Payne said, "Parts, new and old, are more plentiful for Chevys and less expensive." Explaining why he chose to drive a ford, Payne continued, "My dad and grandpa always drove Fords. My first truck was a 1979, F250 four-by-four, with a 460, that I drove to school. I started driving them on the farm and cutting firewood, before I had my license."

When asked what he considered as his strong point as a driver, Payne's answer was short and to the point, "Consistency." That said, although Jonathon's driving skills play a huge role in his success, he is quick to agree that his team is also of importance. Referring to his team, the driver said, "It's nice to have help, and someone that will give me an honest opinion."

Jonathon Payne and Team Major Payne are obviously considered by their competitors as a force to be reckoned with, as they have walked away victorious too many times to be considered as anything less. That said, the team is acutely aware of exactly what it takes to win on a consistent basis and one can rest assured that proper maintenance is on the top of their list. "I use the K&N 6X14 high flow air filter on my pulling truck," explained Payne. "I use their oil filter and air intake system on my 2008 Ford F350 tow vehicle, and my 700 Yamaha Rhino. Having a great sponsor like K&N and using their products for the past twelve years means I don't have to worry about any air or oil filter related problems."

Referring to his fans, the 2011 Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League champion continued, "Thanks for your support and encouragement. Even though my truck is loud, I can still here the crowd cheering at the end of the pull."

As one might suspect, Jonathon Payne, and Team Major Payne are looking forward to the upcoming season. That said, if all goes as hoped for, Payne fans might see somewhat of a change, as the driver is currently on the hunt for a major sponsor to assist in a move up to the Modified Four-Wheel-Drive class.
