Erica Enders-Stevens defeated fan-vote winner Dave Connolly in the final to become the first female winner in the history of the K&N Horsepower Challenge

This past weekend’s K&N Horsepower Challenge proved to be a perfect showcase for NHRA’s most competitive class. It was run as part of the SummitRacing.com NHRA Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 30th running of the specialty event pitted eight of Pro Stock’s best drivers in a three-round shootout with the winner taking home $50,000. The crowd was treated to a day of tremendous racing.

Erica Enders-Stevens, the alternate for sidelined Mike Edwards, ended the day in the winner’s circle. Enders-Stevens defeated fan-vote winner and No. 8 qualifier Dave Connolly in the final to become the first female winner in the history of the special bonus event.

Anne Perkins, the K&N Horsepower Sweepstakes finalist from Brookings, Oregon, was paired with Enders-Stevens and took home a one-of-a-kind special edition 2014 Toyota Tacoma HPC, created by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and K&N Engineering.

"Erica took us into the trailer and showed us where they build the transmissions and work on things like the clutch system. She showed us some computer data and the weather system as well," said Perkins. “She was so sweet. They treated us like family, and I don’t think I could’ve picked a better racer. It was ‘girl power’ all day, and we felt like rock stars out there."

"It was really cool to be selected as one of the eight finalists and be in Vegas for the weekend. Winning that beautiful Tacoma was just an added benefit that I could not believe. We had an awesome time with everyone. K&N went above and beyond to make us feel special, and I can’t thank them enough for everything. I still can’t believe it.”

Caitlin Clement, Series and Track Support Manager for K&N Engineering, was pleased with the event and outcome as well.

“K&N’s involvement with the Horsepower Challenge has been a tremendous experience,” said Clement. “K&N is proud to be a part of this unique, specialty race. The combination of the ultimate Pro Stock shootout and an incredible fan experience makes this such a great event. Without our friends over at Toyota Racing, this would not be the once-in-a-lifetime experience that it is. We’d like to thank Toyota Racing for providing the 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge Toyota Tacoma, a truly special truck that any fan would be lucky to own."

"We want to commend all eight drivers for putting on a great show and congratulate Erica Enders-Stevens on her first win. Erica will certainly enjoy her bragging rights and Anne will undoubtedly enjoy cruising around her small, coastal town of Brookings, Oregon, in that beautiful Toyota Tacoma. All in all, the 2014 K&N Horsepower Challenge was a phenomenal event, and we are already working to make next year’s edition even better.”

Jason Johnson Racing Wins ASCS Gulf South Region Double at Battleground Speedway

The JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing has their sights set on winning a record breaking fifth ASCS Championship this year.

The JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing has their sights set on winning a record breaking fifth ASCS Championship this year.

All things being relative, the start of the 2014 season hasn't been Jason Johnson's favorite. "To start the season off at Cocopah Speedway in Yuma, Arizona, is the place to be in the spring time. It was nice to escape the cold in Missouri and get in some nice warm weather," Johnson commented, finding the silver lining in his disappointment.

With his recent win at Battleground Speedway Jason Johnson now has a total of 240 combined race victories.

With his recent win at Battleground Speedway Jason Johnson now has a total of 240 combined race victories.

"After sweeping all four events at Cocopah in 2013, we felt we had a great package for this event. Obviously, we made a few changes over the winter time, and our first weekend for the ASCS National Tour opener was just an average result with two top-10 finishes. We definitely expected a much better result to start the season off strong."

Placed into the context of the lofty heights where he's etched his personal achievement watermark, that sentiment becomes understandable. Born and raised in Eunice, Louisiana, and nicknamed the Ragin' Cajun and the Cajun Sensation because of his youthful fascination with fast cars, Johnson has collected a combined total of 240 career victories since 1993, driving stock cars, mini sprints, outlaw winged modifieds, 360 sprint cars, and 410 sprint cars. And since 2010 alone, the JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team has produced five ASCS Owners Championships and four Drivers Championships, and it's the latter of those accomplishments that Johnson now holds squarely in his crosshairs.

"Entering the 2014 season, I am mentally ready to strive for our fifth ASCS Championship," he confirmed. "I believe three drivers, including myself, have won four Championships, and we would like to be the first to win five."

"Physically, I feel to be in the best condition to start a season off due to the fact of being in the gym all winter long. This winter has been unique, because the last 10 years we have traveled down to Australia to race in our off season. This winter though we stayed back in the USA and worked alongside the guys on our equipment in getting prepared for 2014."

The most significant change for Johnson in 2014 is his switch to Don Ott Engines.

The most significant change for Johnson in 2014 is his switch to Don Ott Engines.

During their off season Jason Johnson Racing made a number of other significant changes to their program too. The most noteworthy of those changes being that they have decided to utilize Don Ott Engines, whereas the last couple seasons they ran the Ford power plants built by Roush Yates.

Internally, Philip Dietz is still the crew chief for Jason Johnson Racing, but he's now working along with Travis Marsch for this season. "They have been working together all winter long," Johnson adds, "and they have been focused on finding more speed to stay ahead of our competition."

It appears that they have indeed found that elusive needed speed, as Johnson recently returned to his winning ways at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas. This was a particularly special win as Josh Baughman and the entire JJR/Stenhouse Jr. Racing team donned their Los Angeles Dodgers hats backwards, as Patrick Silva always did, in a salute to their fallen friend and team member who passed away recently. Johnson dedicated the win to Patrick Silva, his family, and his friends.

2012 to 2016 Triumph Tiger Explorers Increase Performance with K&N Air Filter Upgrade

The 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer XC sits at the top of the new, large displacement adventure bikes class. The XC designation on the Tiger 1200 XC refers to "cross country," and it makes tracks from its standard-model sibling with beefier, longer-travel suspension, and a larger-diameter front wheel (21 vs. 19 inches). The Triumph Tiger Explorer is quite capable of rolling on long past the end of the pavement although the appeal for most riders is that is that the Tiger Explorer XC simply offers more versatility as a road machine, as it's superior to many sport tourers and full-dress tourers.

K&N Replacement Air Filter for 2012 & 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200

K&N Replacement Air Filter for 2012 & 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200

The headline feature on the Triumph Tiger Explorer platform is the all-new 1215cc three-cylinder engine. The largest transverse triple ever created by Triumph. The engine is, in a word, extraordinary. With peak horsepower of 135 at the crank and nearly 90 foot/pounds of torque, this is not only an extremely fast Triumph, it also pulls effortlessly like a Santa Fe locomotive. And now, by simply swapping out the OE air filter with a K&N TB-1212 reusable air filter, you can bump up the performance to the next logical level.

Upgrading to a high-flow, high-performance air filter is so simple you'll wonder why everyone else hasn't. Merely remove the old filter and drop in the new K&N TB-1212. That's it. No cutting or modifications of any kind are required.

Additionally, the specially pleated material on the K&N TB-1212 air filter creates a large filtration area that continues to provide outstanding filtration for longer service intervals and more trouble-free riding. Depending on your riding environment, servicing intervals can go up to 50,000 miles before maintenance is necessary. When cleaning is called for, it's as effortless as following the four easy steps on a K&N Recharger Kit (part no. 99-5050). This will be the only air filter you'll ever need to buy for your Triumph Tiger Explorer - K&N backs that promise with their celebrated Million Mile Limited Warranty.

2013 to 2016 Honda Accord Models Gain Horsepower with K&N Air Intake System

K&N Air Intake under the hood of a Honda Accord 2.4L

K&N Air Intake under the hood of a Honda Accord 2.4L

The Honda Accord needs no introduction. It has been one of the best-selling midsized sedans in North America since its introduction, wrapping up fuel efficiency, safety, and stylish design in an affordable package, which appeals to a huge audience. It has even found a fond following in the tuner community. The Accord is completely redesigned inside and out for 2013 with modern styling cues, cutting-edge electronics, and a fuel-efficient 2.4 liter engine that spins an impressive 185 break horsepower and EPA-estimated 36 miles per gallon highway. With prices starting in the low $20k range, you find affordable performance from a manufacturer that some might argue is the industry-leader in midsized sedans.

Owners of the 2013 to 2016 Honda Accord models with 2.4 liter engines have many performance upgrades at their fingertips, but none carries the industry-leading knowledge, performance and reputation of the K&N 69-1213TS Typhoon air intake system.

K&N Air Intake System for Honda Accord 2.4L

K&N Air Intake System for Honda Accord 2.4L

Every component of the 69-1213TS is engineered for performance. The system is guaranteed to increase horsepower and torque, utilizing a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube to help minimize restriction and increase airflow to the engine. The tube is finished in a durable silver powder coating so the performance is matched with style under the hood. A K&N RU-4960XD air filter is fitted to the inlet of the tube to provide excellent filtration efficiency. The filter is also washable and reusable so it never needs to be replaced, and servicing the filter is only needed every 100,000 miles or so, depending on driving conditions. The filter is placed near the factory fresh air duct and is shrouded by a heat shield to help protect incoming air from heat coming off of the engine.

Reputations are built on results and the K&N air intake 69-1213TS isn't all talk. On the dyno, the 69-1213TS produced an estimated 5.1 horsepower at 5378 rpm and 6.8 pound-feet of torque at 3312 rpm over the factory air intake system. Simply put, it delivers.

The 69-1213TS performance air intake system is easy to install and comes with step-by-step instructions including a list of all the tools needed to complete the job. K&N also backs this air intake with its industry-leading Million Mile Limited Warranty so owners have the peace of mind knowing that their intake is covered.

Both Honda and K&N have built first-rate reputations over decades of hard work and innovation. The performance and design of their products speak for themselves, and when they come together like the K&N 69-1213TS air intake system on the 2013 to 2016 Honda Accord 2.4 liter, the results are, to say it simply, impressive.

Owners of the following Honda Accord models can benefit from the simple bolt-on performance of the K&N 69-1213TS Typhoon air intake system:

The original Rock River Supercross/motocross professional team was formed in 2009 under the direction of Mike DuClos and team manager Christina Denney. In 2010, DuClos, owner of Rock River Powersports, a brick and mortar Yamaha dealership and arguably the largest amateur motocross race team on the amateur racing circuit, was brought into the Factory Yamaha Pro Race Program and offered a position to take an additional race team to AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross. The offer in essence allowed Rock River to become the first amateur team to present a program to kids from ages 3 ½ in amateur motocross, all the way through to the professional ranks. No other motocross team in history has that type of reach. Under the direction of DuClos and Denney, the riders signed up so far for the 2014 season include Ben Lamay, Alex Martin, and Greg Gehrer, with a fourth rider to be announced.

Team Cycle Trader/Rock River/Yamaha will compete in the complete Supercross Series, the AMA Outdoor Motocross Series and many of the Amateur Motocross Series throughout the year.

“We have worked so hard for the past five years, and we knew if we held on, good things would happen,” said DuClos. “CycleTrader.com is an amazing addition to our program, and we can’t thank them enough for the support they are giving us.”

CycleTrader.com is also launching a new “Pro Pit Corner” on its homepage where fans can interact with the team’s riders, manager, owner, and mechanics. This section will offer giveaways, tech tips, team tracking, an event calendar, and an exclusive sale link to the team’s factory Yamaha race bikes. Not to mention, features including the benefits of K&N’s High-Flow Air Filters and Performance Oil filters in the race bikes.

“This will be K&N’s 4th year supporting the Rock River Powersports Race Programs,” commented Johnny Jump, K&N’s Powersports Brand Manager. K&N is involved in every level of the program, from young boys and girls chasing their dreams through their dedication to the sport of motocross at amateur events, all the way through to the top racers of the Monster Energy Supercross Series. K&N has products in the bikes, in the motorhomes, in their semi-truck with our Heavy Duty air and oil filters, and even in the team Yamaha Rhino which takes the team and riders to and from the start finish line at the events. And part of our sponsorship relationship will include the ability to have a place on the website with tech tips concerning K&N products, how they work, cleaning, air filters oil filters, etc.”

Mike Guerra, Racing Division Department Manager at Yamaha Motor Corp., remarked, “We’re really excited about adding CycleTrader to the team and look forward to having another successful year of racing.”
