The Indian Motocycle Manufacturing Company made American Motorcycles in Springfield, Massachusetts from 1901 to 1953 until the original company went bankrupt. Indian Motorcycles were rocketed into fame by the company’s unique racing heritage. In 1903 Indian co-founder Oscar Hedström set the world motorcycle speed record, and by 1905 the company was building v-twin powered factory race bikes. In 1911 the Indian Motorcycle factory race team took the top three positions in the legendary Isle of Man Tourist Trophy. During those formative years leading up to World War I, Indian became the world’s largest motorcycle manufacturer.

Many successors have attempted to revive the Indian Motorcycle name since the original company went bankrupt in 1953. It wasn’t until 2011 however, when Polaris Industries acquired the Indian Motorcycle brand, that a large player in the motorcycle industry was backing the once legendary brand. One of the new models designed since the 2011 buy-out is the Indian Chieftain. Normally considered a touring bike, with a full front fairing and hard saddlebags, contemporary bike builder and motorcycle visionary Roland Sands took one look at the Chieftain and decided to give the bike a new life.

On the RSD blog, the company stated “In our minds a proper Indian is a racer. Purpose built machines utilizing only the barest of necessities. And there lies the challenge.” The challenge being referred to is how does one strip down a well-engineered, technologically advanced, modern Chieftain and pay homage to the board trackers, hill climbers, and flat track racers of the 1920’s, 30’s, and 40’s? Roland Sands has effectively answered that question with the bike he calls the “Track Chief”. The RSD team began the project with a board tracker concept rendering, and from there deconstruction of the Indian Chieftain began.

RSD truly went back in time when they built their first-ever leaf spring fork bike, but the addition of a Fox DHX mountain bike shock, blends old school suspension with new school damping

After much determination the Chieftain was reborn as the RSD Track Chief. Roland Sands and his team paid attention to the details, and the results are stunning. The modern Polaris built engine is cradled in a custom single sided chromoly rigid frame. The computer, battery, and all the electronics were hidden in a custom belly pan. RSD truly went back in time when they built their first-ever leaf spring fork bike, but the addition of a Fox DHX mountain bike shock, blends old school suspension with new school damping. The gas tank is a handmade titanium work of art, and so is the mandrel bent titanium exhaust. Of course no Roland Sands Design custom bike would be complete without K&N Performance Filters. The Track Chief features a RSD Blunt air cleaner assembly with a K&N air filter keeping out the dust, bugs, rubber, or whatever else a modern board tracker might encounter.

The Roland Sands Design built Track Chief will be featured in the K&N Air Filters 2014 SEMA show booth, number 22943. If you can, make sure to come by the K&N SEMA show booth and check out this bike up close and in person.

K&N Short Ram Performance Air Intake for Kia Forte & Forte Koup 2.0L

The Performance Short Ram Intake System from K&N Air Filters is designed to increase horsepower and torque for 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup models with the 2.0L engine

The Performance Short Ram Intake System from K&N Air Filters is designed to increase horsepower and torque for 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup models with the 2.0L engine

It’s fairly obvious that when Kia Motors America engineers designed the Kia Forte, they had their sights set on the traditional Honda Civic owner. This is especially obvious when you consider that the Kia Forte Koup is the only 2-door car in direct competition with the Honda Civic outside of the rebadged Hyundai Elantra. The naturally aspirated gasoline direct injection (GDI) 2.0-liter engine found in the 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup is rated at 173 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque from the factory, but reducing air intake restriction can help this advanced engine perform even better. Owners seeking some extra boost in the power department can now install the 69-5314TS K&N performance short ram intake system. By replacing the maze of convoluted air intake tubes, stock air filter box, and disposable car air filters, K&N intake systems are able to reduce restriction and increase power.

K&N powder coated its short ram intake system for 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup 2.0L models in a silver color to protect the tube and look good under the hood

K&N powder coated its short ram intake system for 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup 2.0L models in a silver color to protect the tube and look good under the hood

The 2014 Kia Forte 2.0L short ram intake from K&N is precision-engineered to be a simple-to-install performance add-on. The backbone of this intake system is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube which helps to minimize restriction, and prevent turbulence, allowing your engine to breathe easier. A durable silver color powder coated finish is applied to the tube, providing an attractive appearance under the hood that will look great for years to come..

A stock 2014 Kia Forte Koup 2.0L gained an estimated 8.2 more horsepower and 7.03 lb-ft of torque when dyno tested with K&N Air Filters short ram intake system number 69-5314TS

A stock 2014 Kia Forte Koup 2.0L gained an estimated 8.2 more horsepower and 7.03 lb-ft of torque when dyno tested with K&N Air Filters short ram intake system number 69-5314TS

K&N equips the 69-5314TS short ram intake with the oversized RU-4600 reusable air filter, providing a large surface to help increase airflow while providing outstanding engine protection. The washable air filter is made with K&N’s famous high-flow filter media so it’s washable and reusable and can even go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. To top it all off, a heat shield designed specifically for the 2014 Kia Forte 2.0L is included with the short ram intake, helping to deflect engine heat away from incoming air.

All of the design features of this short ram intake system work in harmony to deliver increased performance. On the dyno, 69-5314TS produced an estimated additional 8.2 horsepower at 5467 rpm and an impressive 7.03 pound-feet of torque at 4007 rpm over the factory air filter box and convoluted air intake tubes when installed on a 2014 Kia Forte Koup 2.0L.

This short ram intake system is guaranteed to provide a boost in power for 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup models with the naturally aspirated GDI 2.0L engine. With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to the vehicle, you’ll be on the road in approximately 90 minutes with more horsepower under your right foot.

If all that weren’t enough, K&N backs its short ram intake and cold air intake systems with the industry-leading K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®. If you’re looking to take your 2014 Kia Forte and Kia Forte Koup models with the naturally aspirated GDI 2.0L engine almost to the performance level of the 1.6L turbo engine, look no further than the 69-5314TS Typhoon short ram intake system.

K&N short ram intake system 69-5314TS is designed to provide a lifetime of increased power on the following Kia Forte models:

2014 KIA FORTE KOUP 2.0L L4 F/I – All
2014 KIA FORTE 2.0L L4 F/I - All

By way of the Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge contest, Christian PaHud was awarded an opportunity to drive a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Toyota stock car during the Toyota/Napa Auto Parts 150 at All American Speedway in Roseville, California. PaHud drove the number 99 Bill McAnally Racing (BMR) Peak Toyota to the fastest qualifying time, winning the Coors Brewing Co. Pole Award and then drove the BMR Toyota straight onto victory lane. The Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge included coaching from two-time Daytona 500 race winner and younger brother to Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip.

The Peak Stock Car Dream Challenge is truly making dreams come true. PaHud is the third Peak contest driver to win in the number 99 Bill McAnally Racing Toyota. The 2013 Peak contest winner, Patrick Staropoli, took the checkered flag at Irwindale Speedway in California and Chris Eggleston earned the win at Colorado National Speedway this past July. After his win, Christian PaHud said “I don’t know what to think right now. This is just a dream come true.”

PaHud led the most laps during the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Toyota/Napa Auto Parts 150 at All American Speedway in Roseville, California, but had his work cut out for him. There were six lead changes involving four drivers, however once PaHud took the lead from Brandon McReynolds on a lap 126 restart he never looked back. James Bickford in the number 6 Sunrise Ford Fusion was able to make it past McReynolds eventually finishing in the runner-up position. McReynolds held onto the third position, with Greg Pursley and David Mayhew on his tail.

One more race, the Casino Arizona 100 in Phoenix, Arizona, remains in the 2014 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West season. Greg Pursley remains in the lead for the championship, by 21 points, and was able to increase his lead over Dylan Lupton due to Lupton’s unfortunate mid-race spin. Brandon McReynolds is just seven points behind Lupton in third. The final race at Phoenix International Raceway could decide the 2014 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship.

Factory Replacement Fuel Filter Line from K&N Designed to OEM Performance Specs

K&N performance replacement fuel filter housings are made from high-strength carbon steel and powder coated for corrosion resistance

K&N performance replacement fuel filter housings are made from high-strength carbon steel and powder coated for corrosion resistance

A fuel filter serves to screen out dirt and debris particles moving from a vehicle’s fuel tank, through the pump, and into the fuel injection system or carburetor. A fuel filter is usually found in the fuel line after the fuel tank, but before the fuel pump. If the fuel were left unfiltered these fine particles, of rust, dirt, scale, and other foreign materials would cause rapid wear to the fuel pump and fuel injectors because of their rough grainy qualities. This could lead to eventual fuel pump or injector failure and a vehicle that will not run.

The high-performance cellulose glass media used in the K&N performance replacement fuel filter line removes contaminants such as rust, dirt, scale and other foreign materials, providing excellent fuel system protection

The high-performance cellulose glass media used in the K&N performance replacement fuel filter line removes contaminants such as rust, dirt, scale and other foreign materials, providing excellent fuel system protection

Replacing a vehicle’s fuel filter is part of routine vehicle maintenance. If a fuel filter is not replaced at the manufacturer’s recommended service interval it could become clogged and cause enough restriction in the fuel flow to reduce engine performance or struggle to maintain normal operation. Additionally, use and regular maintenance of a fuel filter can maintain factory performance and fuel economy. The less restriction found in the fuel system, and fewer contaminants, the more efficiently an engine can run.

The K&N performance fuel filter line is designed as a direct factory or aftermarket fuel filter cross reference and meets or exceeds factory design and performance
