K&N Engineering’s New Replacement Air Filter for the Chevy HHR is Available

K&N Engineering's lifetime replacement air filter (33-2339) for Chevrolet's 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 HHR crossover is ready to go for the new car with truck qualities.

K&N's 33-2339 Replacement Air Filter for 2006-2011 Chevy HHR
Inspired by the 1949 Chevy Suburban, there are two engine packages available: 2.2-liter Ecotec four-cylinder (143 horsepower) in the LS and 1LT; and a 2.4-liter version with dual-overhead cams and variable-valve timing in the 2LT.

The K&N 33-2339 air filter fits the 2006 to 2011 Chevrolet HHR 2.2L L4 and HHR 2.4L L4 engines.

Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric; sandwiched between two layers of epoxy-coated aluminum screen. The filter captures airborne dirt particles while allowing a high volume of air flow.  Particles cling to the outside of the filter and actually become part of the filtering media. K&N invented the concept of washable, reusable filters more than 35 years ago.

More air means more power and torque when you need it. The 33-2339 includes the famous K&N Million Mile Warranty.

Chevy Truck Hits Million Mile Mark with K&N Air Filter Saving Owner up to $1800

One million miles, one vehicle and one K&N air filter all add up to one remarkable milestone in the life of Carl Judice, 66, of New Iberia, Louisiana. His snow white hair and southern accent go together to make him a southern gentleman who owns what some would call an extraordinary pick-up truck.

A vehicle is only as good as the mechanics and the servicing provided by its owner and Carl knows how much difference a K&N filter made in his one million mile engine. “I have a ¾ ton Chevy 1998 pick-up truck with over one million miles,” said Carl Judice, a truck driver. “I’ve had 400 oil changes but only one K&N air filter.”

There are service records at the General Motors Dealership, Musson Patout Automotive, in New Iberia from the first day of Carl’s new truck purchase. The paperwork trail proves the one million mile accomplishment with one K&N air filter.

“Really and truly the K&N air filter kept the engine going,” he said. “It keeps the dirt out of the engine.” Carl said his one and only K&N air filter reduced maintenance on his Chevrolet C2500 HD pick-up. He told K&N he never had to go into the engine.

Carl knows engines.  He grew up on a farm and maintained his own equipment until he became a truck driver 10 years ago. Dwayne Judice e-mailed K&N Engineering about his father, he wrote, “When he changed careers, from sugar cane farmer to oilfield transportation his vast mechanical knowledge became an asset.” Dwayne also told K&N his dad’s visits to GM Goodwench Technicians have been few and far between.

According to Carl, he changed three starters, three alternators and brakes, plus all the regular maintenance on his one million mile pick-up. “Whenever I open the cover and change my oil I look at the air filter,” he said. “If it’s dirty, I take it out and clean it.”

Carl told K&N Engineering he cleaned his air filter 10 to 12 times during his one million mile odyssey. “I don’t have a specific length of time between cleaning,” Carl said. “Sometimes I drive on dusty roads and I have to change it more often,”

“The factory recommends change every 15,000 miles on an OEM filter,” said Bojack Walker, Service Manager at Musson Patout Automotive. “We put the numbers together and at a million miles plus Mr. Carl Judice would have had to change it 66 times at a cost of about $30.00 each. Carl saved around $1800.00 by using a K&N filter.”

“I would never put a paper filter on any of my vehicles as long as K&N makes these air filters,” said Carl. “When I’m passing somebody, I press on the gas I go, I still have the power.” Carl is still putting miles on his truck today with the same K&N air filter installed.

Ford Ranger/ Mazda B4000 Gains 11+ Horsepower with K&N’s 77-Series High-Flow Performance Intake

The engine in the Mazda B4000 series is the same as the one used in the Ford Ranger 4.0l V6 for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 models. This allowed K&N to design one intake to fit both models.  With the addition of K&N's new 77-Series High-Flow Performance Kit (77-2561KP) Ford Ranger 4.0L V6 and Mazda B4000 4.0l V6 owners can realize an 11+ horsepower gain while driving.

The 77-Series Intakes' show-quality appearance has under-the-hood style with a polished aluminum finish perfect for the Ford Ranger and Mazda B4000.

K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your truck's engine to utilize a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more power and torque when you need it.

77-Series Intakes are designed to be installed with simple hand tools in under 90 minutes, is street legal in most states and includes the famous K&N Million Mile Warranty.

K&N 1955 Chevy Restoration Complete and Ready to Hit the Road

K&N 1955 Chevy on display at SEMA in November 2005.
Our ‘55 Chevy 210 sat in the garage of K&N Engineering for years, just a shell of its former self, conjuring images of a ghostly past of Elvis Presley haircuts and poodle skirts.

We purchased it for $11,000 when it was 45 years old from a man in Hemet, California. The primer was nearly done on our Chevy’s body, the fenders and doors were painted red. It sat in our garage for 5 more years unchanged, but when the Chevy turned 50, there was a sudden urgency in the air. K&N had a plan to restore it for SEMA (The Specialty Equipment Market Association) 2005.

“We decided to do it sometime around the end of August,” said John Hudson, K&N shop supervisor, one of the key players in the restoration process. “The first thing we did was take it apart, next we had it sandblasted.” After that, it was time have the paint job done.

When that was finished we brought the ’55 Chevy back to K&N Engineering in Riverside, California, evoking a momentum that began a 20 day restoration process that took us into the wee hours of the morning, sometimes seven days a week.

”We only had 20 days before SEMA and restoring it became our day and night job,” said Brad Beltinck, K&N Special Projects Supervisor, another key player in the 55’ Chevy project. “We just put our heads together, got the parts, went to the next part, put it together and went to the next part.”

K&N decided to go with a stock look and just a hint of retro. The colors had to stand out, the way General Motors and its domestic rivals did when they dominated the auto market in North America back in the 50s. “Platinum & Sunset” were selected as the exterior colors. The bench seats of our ’55 Chevy are all original and were meticulously restored. It is a unique match to the exterior, tan morphed with a splash of orange. The carpet is grey.

K&N put in new windshields, but all the trim and seals around the new rollup windows are original. “It’s not from our Chevy, but they are Chevy parts from ’55 or ’56,” Beltinck said. The door trim is original, but the mirrors are after market parts.

“Our ‘55 Chevy frame is also an after-market part, a trend for the hot-rod industry, “said Hudson. “From there we added a set of 18- and 20-inch rims, which were custom designed for the car.”

The Flaming River three-spoke stainless steel tilt column steering wheel is in place along with the original dash. The only piece of aluminum surrounds the radio. The Panasonic CQ-C990IU radio is digital, designed to be seen and heard. “It has a screen that is programmable, we can run K&N video when the Chevy is sitting or running,” said Beltinck.

K&N engineers tried to stay away from aluminum billet pieces. “A lot of the hot roders use after market billet, “said Hudson. “We prefer stock and like to think of it as showroom stock, as if we bought the car in 1955.”

The light switches are also all original and the LoKar gas pedal is powder coated in black.

K&N worked hard to have our Chevy physically together for SEMA, it looked so together, there was an offer of $125,000 to buy our Chevy. By the way that was without the latest engine.

However, K&N could not part with its new baby.

Our Chevy will be fully equipped and make its debut in March 2006 at the Goodguys Rod and Custom Show in Pleasanton, California.

We have put a General Motors small crate motor from its high performance line. The 383 engine cranks out 425 HP. Our K&N engineers said it will go 100 plus MPH without a problem.

Our Chevy 210 has a K&N midget air box. A 4-cylinder sprint car box modified to fit on a ’55. We went from 4 holes to one on the bottom of the air filter. It’s supercharged and helps maintain the clean looking theme.

“I machined the K&N logo on the filter with a milling machine called the computer numeric control or CNC,” said Rick Daniel, a K&N Racing Development Engineer. “The idea just came to me in a vision and it came out pretty cool.”

After Pleasanton, in June 2006, our ’55 Chevy 210 will join the Hot Rod Power Tour in Florida. When we go on the road it will have an air conditioner and a complete replacement set of tires. What a car!

K&N ATV Air Filter for the Honda TRX 300/400/450 Provides Performance & Protection

ATV owners put their machines to work in a variety of ways and under a myriad of conditions. From herding cattle to dusty farm use, towing trailers and running through deep mud in the hills, K&N Engineering has developed an air filter designed to blow through most definitions of abuse.

K&N Engineering's HA-3098 performance air filter is designed for extended use in dirty off-road riding and also provides clean carburetion at sea level as well as high altitudes.

If you own a Honda TRX400 or TRX450 Foreman or Honda TRX300 Fourtrax, TRX450FE or TRX450FM Foreman you are in luck!

The K&N HA-3098 air filter like all K&N air filters are work horses. They typically provide longer service intervals and are designed to increase horsepower and acceleration.

Travis Horner, a K&N customer from Iowa wrote us, "I have installed the filter (K&N HA-3098) and have noticed a quicker throttle response and improved horsepower since adding this to my quad."

Calvin Crossland of Alberta, Canada also purchased an HA-3098. Crossland e-mailed K&N about the air filter, he wrote, "I have noticed a great deal of performance since I have added the filter. I have more bottom end power and top end."

K&N replacement air filters are washable and reusable.  The K&N HA-3098 lasts up to 50,000 miles before cleaning is required, depending on driving conditions. As a rule, no ATV jet changes are required with just a K&N filter element.

This filter is also covered by our K&N Racing and Off Road Limited Warranty. All K&N Universal Air Filters and K&N Air Filters sold for racing and off-road use are warranted against defective materials or workmanship for one year from date of purchase with no mileage limitation. This includes K&N Air Filters sold for ATV and motorcycle off-highway and/or dual-purpose use.
