K&N invented the pleated cotton filter more than 35 years ago for the power sports market. Designed to increase airflow, K&N filters offer more surface area (than foam filters), increased filtration and optimum air flow.

Installation of the K&N XStream Filter is easy. With the top removed, you can easily press the sides together to slide it in between your frame rails and install it into the air-box without the oily mess associated with many other air filters.

"This filter comes with a gasket, which makes it unnecessary to run grease at the base of the filter," said K&N Powersports Brand Manager, John Jump. "It's a nice benefit and makes for a very clean filtration system. On this particular filter, you mount the gasket directly to the airbox."

Kyle Krause, who currently races Expert in the Best in the Desert and WORCS Series, has been racing for 19 years now. "I ran the new MX XStream on a 450," said Kyle. "I noticed more power right away and the filter is very easy to install and clean.

Cleaning is a simple process and K&N offers a filter care service kit (sold separately) with everything needed to clean and re-oil your filter numerous times. K&N's larger filtration area offers riders longer service intervals meaning more riding and less cleaning.

Add Power to 2006-07 & 2009 Jeep Commander & 05-07 & 09 Grand Cherokee with K&N Intake

The 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee shows off lighter colors, plusher materials and a new dashboard design that adapts to left-or-right hand driver configurations. Its cousin, the new retro style Jeep Commander is different, but still looks like it's in the Jeep family.  K&N Engineering has an exceptional quality performance system that increases power and also looks good under the hood of either vehicle.

The K&N 77 Series High-Flow Performance Kit for the 2006, 2007 and 2009 Jeep Commander 4.7L V8 F/1 is one of the first on the market for this vehicle. The same intake system also fits the 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009 4.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee.  K&N tests have shown a horsepower gain of 7.96 @ 4397 RPM with the 77-1548KP intake.

K&N Engineers were able to knock out a system that provides good power gains even though the Commander does not have a lot of open space. The engine compartment is really busy and the development side meant very extensive design work for the 77-1548KP.

Our 77-Series Intake Kits show quality appearance has under-the-hood style with a polished aluminum finish perfect for the Cherokee and Commander. The 77 series kit uses a conical shaped High-Flow air filter that we can fit into the engine compartment.

It takes about 40 minutes or less to install this kit and the K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions.

3/14/2006 -- Increase 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 Jeep Liberty Power by Almost 6HP with K&N Air Intake

Many of the original Jeep vehicles were designed to carry messages back and forth between U.S. Army units. The 2006 Jeep Liberty is a descendant of the original Jeep.

K&N Engineering designed a new 77-Series High-Flow Performance Kit (77-1540KP) for the 2004, 2005 and 2006 and 2007 Jeep Liberty 3.7L V6. With the addition of this kit, owners can realize a 5.92 horsepower gain while driving.

"That's a good horsepower gain for a V6," said K&N Engineering Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "We worked hard and developed a kit that the vehicle likes."

K&N Air Intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow. This allows your jeep's engine to use a larger volume of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more power and torque when you need it.

The 77-Series Air Intakes show-quality appearance has under-the-hood style with a polished aluminum finish perfect for a Jeep that's fun to drive and will go just about anywhere.

77-Series Intakes' are designed to be installed with simple hand tools in less than 90 minutes, and include the famous K&N Million Mile Warranty.

Doug Miller Wins NHRA Lucas Oil Super Comp: Division 4 at No Problem Raceway

No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana is nearly halfway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans. During the first weekend of March, racer Doug Miller made his mark by winning NHRA Lucas Oil Super Comp: Division 4.

“I use a K&N oil filter and a K&N air filter in my scoop,” said Miller. “I never have to worry about the oil filter collapsing or bursting, and the oil is always good and clean.”

Miller also uses a K&N oil filter (HP-3002) and the AirCharger Intake System (63-1007-1) on his 1993 Chevy crew cab dually truck. “I could immediately tell the difference with the K&N products,” said Miller. “I noticed a lot more power when I was towing.”

The Houston, Texas resident is a deputy sheriff when he is not racing. “I drive a 2005 Kia Spectra to work,” Miller said. “I use K&N filters in my Kia (HP-1004) and all my vehicles, the product works.”

Miller is going to Memphis for a divisional race in a few weeks. “I hope to do well,” he said.

NHRA Super Street Racer Gary Thompson #1 in Jegs Allstar Points

Racers in NHRA Super Street try to run as close to 10.9 seconds in a quarter of a mile without going under 10.9 seconds. Reaction time at the start is key, said Super Street racer Gary Thompson who has run a near perfect 10.9 seconds 6 times in his index and class.

Gary drives a 1986 Corvette with a 400 Chevrolet small block 400 cubic inch engine. “K&N filters (HP-3002) are the only filters I’ve ever had on my Corvette,” said Gary. “The sticky tires on drag cars pick up a lot of pebbles and dirt, and K&N performance filters really work and keep my motor clean.”

In Arizona, Gary won Division 7 in Super Street in the Lucas Oil Drag Series. “The K&N filter has a nut on the bottom and all I need is my crescent wrench,” said Thompson. “When I fire up the car I don’t have to worry about a bursting container with this K&N filter.”

Gary’s wife Nancy Thompson races a 2004 Corvette with a K&N Air Intake System. “Nancy has picked up 3 tenths of a second in ET Bracket Racing with the K&N system,” said Thomson. “She races at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma in the Wednesday Night Drags.”

Gary began racing in 1966 and currently ranks number 1 in Jegs Allstar points. The 56-year-old Santa Rosa resident was Division 7 Super Street champion in 2003 and 2005.

Gary is headed to Tucson, Arizona next for the Lucas Oil Division 7 race. “I would like to do well,” said Gary. “I hope to qualify for Chicago.”
