Andy Forsberg won his first Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals Championship at Silver
Dollar Speedway in Chico, California. Forsberg also won Thursday night’s first
preliminary night feature in the 15th annual sprint car event for 360 motors. He
also picked up a $5000 first prize for winning Saturday’s 40-lap feature race.
Forsberg started out in the front row in his A&A Stepping Stone, K&N Filters,
Red Line Oil, Auto Meter, FK Rod Ends # 92 Thursday night. Early on the race was
going to be decided by either tire wear or catching the right breaks while
battling with traffic. Forsberg’s break came around lap eight when Willie Croft
made a mistake. Forsberg passed and won the race.

Forsberg uses K&N Engineering Products. “My dad raced and I grew up with

On Saturday night things changed for Forsberg came on lap eight when Hirst
drifted a little high going into turn one. Forsberg was in position and took the
lead coming out of turn two. On lap nine the first of six flat right rear tires
began to show when Korey Lovell and Brad Bumgarner had problems. “I had visions
of blowing out tires,” said Forsberg. “The track conditions and the weather were
big concerns.”
Forsberg continued to lead and work his way through traffic. On lap 26 Willie
Croft tangled with another car and flipped. During the red, the officials
allowed the crews to add air pressure to the tires and make minor adjustments
for the final four laps.

On the restart Forsberg’s crew continued to make the right calls and
helped Forsberg comfortably lead the race. The final four laps ended with the
top three staying in their spots. Kyle Hirst finished second and defending
champion Brent Kaeding finished third.
“Winning was icing on the cake,” said Forsberg. “Our next race is at Tulare,
California. I hope we get out of there in one piece.”

The battle for the 2006 MSA Gravel Rally Championship comes to an end on October
21st in the UK. The final round of the Bulldog Rally will play out on the fast
roads of Oswestry at Shropshire in the Mid Welsh forests.
Craig Middleton's Hyundai Accent WRC
Llandrindod Wells driver Craig Middleton and co-driver Robin Hernaman have a
shot at the championship. Middleton and Hernaman are in a good position after
taking their 3rd win of the season at Scotland. In the forest above Lock Ken in
Scotland, only two drivers broke the seven minute barrier; Middleton by six
seconds and Roger Duckworth by three seconds.
As the drivers went into stage 4 at Cairn Edward, Middleton was leading
Duckworth by 22 seconds. At the end Duckworth cracked an exhaust manifold and he
chose to finish the race. Middleton and Hernaman took a hard-earned victory.
An 8th place finish will guarantee the Hyundai Accent WRC pair the title, but
they will not take anything for granted. Roger Duckworth and co-driver Mark
Broomfield are close with their Subaru WRC. This year’s championship allows
crews to drop their two worst scores. In 2005 crews were only allowed to drop
one score.

protection under any conditions,” said Graham Middleton, Craig’s father. “This
is vital because we run an expensive engine in the WRC Hyundai.”
Under the ANCRO Championship Standings scoring rules, Middleton and Hernaman are
the favorites, but the race at Bulldog Rally will determine who wins the title.

World of Outlaws Donny Schatz added a new chapter to a career-best season at
Knoxville Raceway by picking up a career WoO “A” Feature. It was the same track
where he captured the sports biggest race, the Super Clean Knoxville Nationals.
Schatz raced his No. 15 ParkerStore J&J with Shaver power into the lead on the
16th lap to capture his 15th “A” Feature victory of the season and 17th Outlaws
triumph in 2006.

“I’m happy to get back to victory lane,” said Schatz. “It doesn’t matter if we
win five or fifteen. We try to win as many as we can and get this championship
locked up.” Schatz has 8 more wins than the next highest winner in 2006, and has
a 311 point lead with only five nights of races remaining.
“We’ve been greedy all season trying to win as much as we could,” he said. “This
team felt like we might have had a chance for $50,000 at the last race but the
rain came and ended it 14 laps short of 40. The ParkerStore Team has been
working hard all season and winning this race was a testament to their efforts.”
Schatz and most of the other competitors had a difficult time figuring out what
the surface was going to do in the 25-lap feature. The event was a make-up race
originally scheduled for April. It also included the Knoxville Raceway Season
Championship Feature.

With the number of races that took place, most felt the track would take
rubber and primarily be a one-lane groove. The ParkerStore crew bolted on a pair
of tires that were harder compounds anticipating the rubber-down surface.

superior product,” he said. “The K&N Airbox works flawlessly and we are able to
attain maximum horsepower.
All of the competitors were hugging the bottom so Schatz tried to make the high
line work. In turns one and two, he lost ground, but in three and four the
cushion worked to his advantage. He used the high line to pass both Randy
Hannagan and Craig Dollansky on lap 16 to take the lead. Once in front, Schatz
worked his way through lapped traffic and picked up his 50th career World of
Outlaws “A” Feature.
“I didn’t really expect that. When you get out of line you are taking too many
chances. I don’t know if the rubber started to go away or what, but we were able
to get around the top in turns three and four. I tried it in one and two and
lost a lot of ground, but the other end was great. That’s what won us the race.
I got back down there in the rubber and was able to keep going up there and get
passed some lapped cars. It was good for us.”

Steve Rapp followed up an impressive 5th place finish at Road Atlanta with an
even better 4th place result in the final AMA Repsol Superstock race of the
year.

he Michael Jordan Motorsports Suzuki rider had his best 2006 AMA
Superstock result of the year at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio.
During the 16-lap race, Jake Holden led the first five laps while Rapp was
running in 3rd place. Holden did not finish the race, but Rapp made up for it by
picking up his and team’s best result of the season with a 4th place finish.
“This was a great way to finish off the season,” said Rapp. “The Jordan Suzuki
GSX-R1000 was running great and it was good to be up front for the race. We’ve
made a lot of progress this year.”

of our engines,” said Ken Abbot of Jordan Suzuki. “Our engines breathe better
and we get more horsepower.”
Teammate Jason Pridmore did not compete in the Superstock event. He decided to
save his strength in his right broken ankle to focus on the AMA Superbike event,
where he finished in 5th place.

liter and 1.4 liter. The 1.4 liter engine generates an extra 12 BHP over the 1.2
with a maximum power output of 77 BHP. It is very popular in Europe, the Middle
East and Africa. The Fiat Grande Punto is a smaller sporty car, liked by the
young crowd.

said K&N Air Filter Project Manager Joost Adriaans. "The filter bolts directly
onto the throttle body. A vent hose is connected to the base of the filter with
a vent adaptor."
The cold air hose is typical for most K&N 57i kits. "It is a flexible hose that
is attached to the front (usually the grill) of the car," said Adriaans. "While
in motion, the hose feeds cold air to the filter for maximum performance."
Each K&N 57i Series Kit is designed to provide power throughout the RPM range.
"The 1.2 liter tests show around a 3 BHP gain," said Ian Burdis of K&N Filters (Europe)
Ltd. "The 1.4 liter dyno tests show around a 4 BHP gain with the
57-0655."
