N-Fab AmPro Yamaha’s Josh Toth Goes 5 for 5 in GNCC XC2 Class

Josh Toth racing in the GNCC XC2 Class in South Carolina

Toth has proven to be a consistent and adaptable racer in the GNCC series

When Josh Toth was signed to the N-Fab AmPro Yamaha factory squad mid-way through the 2016 Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC), team owner Randy Hawkins had high hopes for the Connecticut native. To say Toth has lived up to those expectations would be a serious understatement. Even with the late start in 2016, Toth finished 4th in the GNCC XC2 Class.

Clearly, resigning Toth for the 2017 season was priority number one for the K&N-sponsored N-Fab AmPro team. Again, Toth has not disappointed. After round five at South Carolina’s Camp Coker, Toth is now a perfect 5 for 5 in the 2017 GNCC.

In South Carolina, Toth piloted his YZ250FX to the win in the 7 lap race ahead of Jesse Groemm on his KTM and Craig DeLong riding a Husqvarna. Toth now has 140 series points, leading DeLong by 39 points. Groemm is in a three-way tie for 3rd with 92 points.

Toth says that the partial season in 2016 gave him a great knowledge and experience base in GNCC that has helped facilitate his meteoric rise in the 2017 series. That experience, combined with a very productive off-season training regimen, has clearly resulted in Toth becoming a favorite for the GNCC XC2 title.

His experience in various American off-road racing series, as well as his success in ISDE competition, has contributed to Toth’s ability to win on the varied tracks and surfaces featured in the GNCC schedule. Under the tutelage of Hawkins, and with the support of N-Fab AmPro Yamaha, the sky seems to be the limit for Josh Toth.

Another notable N-Fab AmPro Yamaha performance in South Carolina was Ricky Russel's hard fought 4th Overall in the XC1 Class.

One of the events for LS Fest West will be a Poker Run Challenge through downtown Las Vegas

The venerable LS engine. Arguably the most popular engine to ever grace the automotive industry. The LS started as a clean sheet design, with the basic layout harkening back to the Chevy small block. Soon after introduction, hot rodders saw the potential of the little V8 and it gained popularity quickly.

Enter Holley LS Fest. This annual event is a celebration of all things LS. Held near Holley’s headquarters in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the event gained almost a cult following and drew fans from around the globe to compete. With events like drag racing, autocross, drifting, and a dyno challenge, there is something for just about everyone.

K&N Performance Air Intake Boosts Power in Many 2008-2013 Twin Cam Harleys®

K&N RK-3930X intake kit for Harley twin cam engines

Everything needed for bolt on performance is included in the RK-3930X kit

Think for a moment about Clark Kent or a wolf in sheep’s clothing. There is something very exciting and satisfying about stealth power. For those who want more punch from their twin cam Harley-Davidson® in a stock-looking package, the new K&N RK-3930X performance intake system is just the ticket.

In K&N’s rigorous, controlled dynamometer testing, the RK-3930X provided nearly 6 additional horsepower in a stock 2013 103CI Harley® Street Glide. That estimated power gain was realized at a real-world riding sweet spot of 4400 RPM.

Just as impressive is the estimated torque boost of over 7.5 ft-lbs in the same 2013 Glide using the new RK itake. That peak gain was delivered at just over 3800 RPM. That is the kind of performance enhancement in the power band’s mid-range that will provide arm-stretching off-the-line acceleration.

K&N RK-3930X installed on a Harley-Davidson twin cam

The RK-3930X is designed with an innovative mounting plate and velocity stack

Those estimated power gains come in an innovative package that hides the intake magic behind the stock H-D® air cleaner cover. So what is the magic you ask? The RK Series assembly in the RK-3930X features an innovative powdercoated billet aluminum back plate that eliminates external breathers. At the intake’s core is a built-in, dyno-tuned velocity stack.

Of course, the intake includes a filter element that is constructed of K&N’s world-famous cotton gauze filter media. The pleated, oil-impregnated filter media allows a marked increase in air flow, while providing extremely efficient and reliable filtration.

The filter element is fully washable and reusable, eliminating the need to buy and dispose of paper filter elements. That makes sense for your pocketbook and for the environment. All that is needed for easy and effective filter recharging is a K&N cleaning kit like the 99-5000.

2015-2016 Ford Expedition & Lincoln Navigator Get More Power With K&N Air Intake

K&N intakes are designed to reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten air flow

The heat shield isolates the filter from underhood heat, allowing outside air to flow to the motor

The 2015-2016 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator were available with the EcoBoost V6, a sophisticated twin-turbocharged 3.5L V6 engine that features an aluminum engine block and cylinder heads, DOHC four valve per cylinder heads, direct fuel injection, direct acting camshaft tappets, and twin-independent variable cam timing (Ti-VCT). The engine produces 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, an improvement of 55 horsepower and 55 ft-lb of torque over the 5.4L V8 engine it replaced in the Expedition and Navigator.

While all that power certainly made for an impressive 0-60 time of 6.2 seconds, it also provides for 6,600 lbs. of trailer-towing capacity.

Chevrolet continues to go down the V8 route with its successful LS series engines. Powering the competitive Chevy Tahoe SUV is the Bow Tie’s 5.3L V8, which produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque. Properly equipped the Tahoe has a trailer-towing capacity of 6,600 lbs., identical to the Expedition and Navigator.

The K&N Replacement Filter is engineered to fit perfectly in the original factory airbox

The intake tube is optimized to feed both turbochargers equal air flow

“Cool,” you think. “I’m all set to blow the doors off the next Tahoe I pull up next to at the traffic light.” Not so fast. Your engine is turbocharged, In fact, it has two turbochargers. And what turbochargers need to make power is air. Lots of air. And K&N can help feed your engine even more air than the factory system.

The K&N 57-2595 cold air intake is a free-flowing air induction system designed to replace the restrictive factory air filter and air intake tubing on some 2015-2016 Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator 3.5L models to increase performance and response.

The air intake system comes with a high-flow K&N RC-5173 air filter and an aerodynamically-engineered intake tube. The system easily connects to your vehicle’s factory engine throttle body to dramatically increase air flow into your engine. This FIPK Air Intake System accommodates the factory air temperature sensor.

The filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed (depending on conditions)

The tapered cylinder shaped K&N air filter is made from highly-effective oiled cotton fibers

K&N engineers developed the 57-2595 performance cold air intake system, which they tuned and dyno-tested to improve acceleration and throttle response. One key to the K&N 57-2595 FIPK air intake system is the oiled cotton filter media that achieves high airflow coupled with high filtration levels, protecting your engine from harmful road grit, dust, and dirt. Further, the filter is mounted right at the front of the Expedition and Navigator where it can take full advantage of the cool incoming air, protected by a proprietary heat shield to keep underhood temperatures out of the engine’s intake.

The other key is the rotationally molded tube made from interlaced high density polyethylene (HDPE). Utilizing this material permits K&N to precisely shape the tube to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine. It also provides the ability to develop tubes with unique shapes that are specifically engineered for each application, like that of the Expedition and the Navigator.

The results are impressive. On a chassis dynamometer, a 2016 Ford Expedition recorded 268 horsepower at the wheels. A K&N 57-2595 FIPK air intake system was then fitted and the SUV retested. With only the change to the intake, horsepower had jumped to 275, an estimated increase of seven horsepower at the wheels. Similar results were measured for torque, rising from 345 ft-lb to 351 ft-lb. Plus, drivability and response have been improved.

There’s no drilling required as OEM mounting brackets are utilized for a seamless installation

Everything needed to install the 2015 - 2016 Expedition or Navigator kit is included in the box

The K&N 57-2595 FIPK air intake system comes complete with a round tapered six-inch K&N RC-5173 low restriction air filter. The K&N 57-2595 air intake systems also comes with the necessary clamps and hardware for an OEM-type appearance, using only factory holes and mounting points. Installation is a relatively straightforward process that takes no more than 90 minutes with tools just about everyone has in their garage.

The oversized air filter also captures and holds more dirt increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles, depending on driving conditions). When it’s time to clean your filter, the K&N Recharger Kit 99-5000 has everything you’ll need. The kit comes with K&N Power Kleen air filter cleaner and K&N air filter oil. Apply K&N Power Kleen to dissolve dirt build up and old filter oil, rinse with water, dry, then apply fresh filter oil to your air filter and reinstall it.

If you consistently drive in dirty, dusty, or wet conditions, consider a K&N RC-5173DK air filter wrap, which is a silicone treated, polyester wrap that is made to cover K&N air filters and provide additional protection without impeding airflow.

The K&N 57-2595 FIPK air intake systems are CARB exempt and legal for use on the streets of all 50 US states. They also come with K&N's 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty.

The 57-2595 is designed to fit the following vehicles:

2016 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR 3.5L V6 Fuel Injection - All Models
2016 FORD EXPEDITION 3.5L V6 Fuel Injection - All Models
2015 LINCOLN NAVIGATOR 3.5L V6 Fuel Injection - All Models

K&N Performance Air Filters and Intakes Guide for the Dodge Challenger

Looking for 2008-2017 Dodge Challenger Performance Parts? K&N has everything you need

Looking for 2008-2017 Dodge Challenger Performance Parts? K&N has everything you need!

In 1969, the big three US auto makers were busy duking it out in the now famous muscle car wars. Ford had the wildly popular Mustang. GM had their F-body Camaro/Firebird twins, and Chrysler Corp. had the Dodge Charger R/T. However, the Mopar offering was about the size of a small apartment building, so it didn't really appeal to younger buyers. To fill this gaping hole in their product line, the 'White Hat' boys launched the all new E-Body Dodge Challenger for 1970. This Mopar muscle car was slightly larger than a Mustang or Camaro, but it was more comfortable, and the Challenger Hemi models were more powerful. Fast forward to 2008, and the newly retro-fied Mustang and Camaro had once again ripped a hole in the Daimler-Chrysler product line. So they shortened the rear-drive LX platform (known as the LC platform), and the designers broke out a Ouija board to conjure up a new muscle car. The result looked like a reincarnated 1970 Dodge Challenger. But it was bigger, safer, and yes, it had a Hemi!

For the initial 2008-2010 Dodge Challenger, there was a base 250-hp Challenger SE V6, the extremely popular Challenger R/T with a 370-375 horsepower 5.7L Hemi V8, and the scandalously fast Challenger SRT8, which sported a 425-hp 6.1L Hemi V8. The 2011 Dodge Challenger received a minor facelift, along with a much improved suspension, and two exciting new engines. The entry level Dodge Challenger SXT / SE got the new Pentastar 3.6L V6, which produced a more muscular 305-hp/268 lb-ft. The 2011 Dodge Challenger R/T got a power increase to 372-hp/400 lb-ft with the 5-speed AutoStick, and 379-hp/410 lb-ft with the 6-speed manual. The almighty 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8 got an even bigger boost thanks to the new 6.4L Hemi / 392 Hemi. Stomp the Go-Pedal and 470-hp/470 lb-ft will hurl you to 60 mph in around 4.5 ticks. Over the next few years, the Dodge Challenger 6.4L Hemi underwent some changes in the various models. The latest Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 pumps out a heady 485-hp with the 392 Scat Pack option. However, that impressive figure was handily beaten when they introduced the insane Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Thanks to a massive blower, the 6.2L Hemi Hellcat engine pumps out 707-hp, making it the most powerful production car that Dodge has ever made. But no matter how powerful this Mustang beater is, K&N makes an entire line of Dodge Challenger performance parts that can make a Super Snake go hide under a ZL1.

Dodge Challenger Performance Air Filters

Low Restriction Dodge Challenger Replacement Air Filter - K&N 33-2295

Low Restriction Dodge Challenger Replacement Air Filter - K&N 33-2295

Unlike a 'surface loading' paper OE Dodge Challenger air filter, a reusable K&N replacement air filter is made from a woven cotton gauze that is designed to trap and hold dirt particles inside a web of oiled cotton fibers. This is called 'depth loading', and it allows more air to flow through the filter to the engine, which in turn improves performance by allowing the engine to burn the fuel more completely. This is one of the simplest ways to increase your Dodge Challenger performance. And because it's a K&N direct fit replacement air filter, it won't void your factory warranty.

Owners of the 2009-2010 Dodge Challenger 3.5L V6, 2009-2010 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L Hemi, and 2008-2010 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 6.1L Hemi, can enjoy a lifetime of performance from the K&N 33-2295 replacement air filter. In fact, it's backed by the K&N 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty, and it only has to be cleaned every 50,000 miles (depending on road conditions). So it will save you both time and money.

If you own a 2011-2017 Dodge Challenger 3.6L Pentastar V6, a 2011-2017 Dodge Challenger 5.7L Hemi V-8, a 2011-2017 Dodge Challenger SRT 6.4L Hemi V-8, or the smokin' 2015-2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat (yep, we make a low restriction drop-in Hellcat air filter), then you can use a K&N 33-2460 replacement air filter. It's warranty-friendly, and street legal in all 50-states.

Dodge Challenger Performance Intake Systems

50-State Legal 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Cold Air Intake - K&N 57-1565 FIPK

50-State Legal 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger SRT8 Cold Air Intake - K&N 57-1565 FIPK

One of the easiest ways to increase the horsepower on your Dodge Challenger is to ditch the stock Mopar intake for a high-flow K&N performance intake system. There are numerous airflow restrictions throughout an OE Challenger intake system. There's the factory air box with its small inlet opening and thick paper air filter. The intake tube is a compilation of different size tubing, which usually has accordion-like bends that cause the air to swirl around and become turbulent. If the air gets restricted and becomes turbulent before it reaches the motor, it can lose oxygen content and cause the motor to extract less power from the fuel during detonation. A K&N performance air intake system on the other hand, uses a variety of low restriction components to increase airflow to your Pentastar V6 or Hemi V8. From the wide diameter intake tubes to the free-flowing K&N performance air filters, these Dodge Challenger cold air intake systems are designed to boost horsepower and torque.

2011-2016 Dodge Challenger V6 Cold Air Intake - K&N 63-1564 AirCharger

2011-2016 Dodge Challenger V6 Cold Air Intake - K&N 63-1564 AirCharger

For a 50-state legal performance increase, the 2009-2014 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L Hemi and 2008-2010 Dodge Challenger SRT8 6.1L Hemi can use the K&N 57-1542 FIPK performance intake system, which dyno testing has shown to provide an estimated increase of 31.42 horsepower and 31.63 lb-ft of torque. The 2009-2010 Dodge Challenger V6 3.5L will get a serious benefit from the K&N 57-1543 FIPK performance intake. While the later 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger 3.6L V6 can see an estimated increase of 8.09 horsepower from the K&N 57-1564 FIPK performance intake. On the 392 Hemi V8 front, the 2011-2014 Dodge Challenger SRT8 6.4L will get an estimated increase of up to 21.95 horsepower and 17.53 lb-ft of torque from the K&N 57-1565 FIPK performance intake system.

If you want a more aggressive Dodge Challenger cold air intake system, then you need to check out the K&N 63-Series AirCharger performance intake system. It uses a wider diameter polyethylene intake tube, connected to a larger high flow K&N performance air filter. The result is more horsepower and torque, faster throttle response, and the same 100,000 mile air filter cleaning interval (depending on driving conditions). If extra horsepower is what you are looking for, then a K&N 63-1564 AirCharger intake can give the 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 or 2016 Dodge Challenger 3.6L V6 an estimated increase of 8.09-hp & 8.13 lb-ft. The 2011-2017 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L Hemi can see similar gains from the K&N 63-1114 AirCharger system, while the almighty 2011-2016 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 6.4L Hemi can get an estimated increase of 21.95 horsepower & 17.53 lb-ft from the K&N 63-1565 AirCharger intake system.

2009-2017 Dodge Challenger R/T Cold Air Intake - K&N 69-2526TP Typhoon

2009-2017 Dodge Challenger R/T Cold Air Intake - K&N 69-2526TP Typhoon

Another step up the Dodge Challenger performance ladder is the K&N 69-Series Typhoon performance intake system. It grabs large quantities of air through an oversized K&N performance air filter, just like the other K&N Dodge Challenger cold air intake systems. However, it also surrounds the filter with a self-sealing heat shield, to keep hot engine air from entering the intake system. And, the mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube cools the air and smooths the airflow path even further. The results are dramatic, as the K&N 69-2526TP Typhooni intake system will bestow an estimated increase of 11.66 horsepower on the 2009-2017 Dodge Challenger R/T 5.7L Hemi. If you really want to add some horsepower to your Dodge Challenger specs, then check out the K&N Blackhawk Induction Systems.
